Came in as "Out of area".
Been blocking left and right, but just come in under different numbers.
Phone companies are to blame for this. It would be simple for them to take steps to stop this.- Caller: Out of area

- DeDethis #619-801-8418 as well as 562-224-2415 both pretend that they are calling to give me a free medi-alert and 3k in grocery money. That my doctor has approved it and that it is only for people 65 & older. My doctor has never discussed with me any medic alert etc. Nothing but scam. AARP did run a notification about the 562#. Oh and they also state "don't hang up this is not a telemarketing call"
- Caller: no name
- Chicago Joe replies to tiredOh yeah, I saw USA's Congress having a hearing. Phone Company Guy basically told this committee that "we're working on it but not done yet." And cited that they have to get all the phone companies to agree on how to peg ID around spoofing. That requires all the countries to get together and agree to even start on it, they regulate or fail to regulate their phones.
This was the Congressional Committee on Aging, Chaired by an Aging Congressman. I am not making this up. The FTC, FBI, and like that were there too, all eager to please and get funding out of them anyway. - fleaSCAM -- 619-801-8418 calls to tell me I have been approved for a free medi-alert and 3k in grocery money. That my doctor has approved it. It is only for people 65 & older. It's already been paid for, but they need my name and address -- Oh Yeah like I'm going to fall for that one. SCAM aimed at the elderly -- isn't there a law against that?
- TelcoITman| 2 repliesI find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing. I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012. Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls. Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on. Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls. If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action. If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously. If you really want to block them – there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install. Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months. So the message is simple – blocking works….

- Randy replies to anonTwo methods come to mind:
(1) They buy the DNCL, and sit down at a computer and start calling off it, remembering to tunnel their VoIP back to India where the call switches over to the PSTN (the int'l telephone system), and thence back to America.
If you placed your unlisted number on the DNCL, it's now listed.
(2) Their program dials every number, and if it hears "hello", hangs up and puts that # on a list of live "human" numbers kept in Russia. That would explain all the reports on 800notes.com of people answering, and immediately hung up on. - Mack| 1 replyJust got a call from this number. The person said that I was approved for a Medical Alert system and something else. Asked the person what my doctors name was and if she knew my name. We do not have that information at this time. All she had was my number. Please delete my number and do not call me again. Hung up.

- D.T.| 1 replyThis was my 209th spam call since January 1, 2014. By Friday I will no longer have a phone - that's how tired I am of this crap. If anyone wants to get in touch with me they can use email. The phone company does nothing, the congress does nothing so I will do something. Why pay $50 a month for only one or two legitimate calls? At 82 I don't need this s***
- UncleFesterThese degenerate [***] called a few times in under 2 minutes, they let it ring once and then 3 rings for the final call. I guess it's a new tactic these scammers use to annoy you into picking up. Don't fall for it.
- Caller: AnnoyingScamArtists
- UncleFester replies to MackI knew it was these clowns, what got me a little ticked off was they rang once several consecutive times in under 2 minutes, was annoying.
- SickofitSenior Medic Alert Scam.
CID: Cell Phone CA- Caller: Medic alert scam
- irishmike replies to tiredYou're exactly right! The phone companies are more concerned about taking money than any possible aggravation experienced by their multitude of customers.
- irishmikeI get lots of phone calls that just give a phone no.; I do not answer them. For some reason all of them (supposedly) are from out of state/area phone nos. I have gotten wise to this, so just do not answer them. None of them let the phone ring more than 4 or 5 times and none of them leave a message.
