CFPB director Richard Cordray said in September 2015. No more lawsuits forget these people.

That agreement does not preclude them from filing a lawsuit, it only restricts them on what they have to do first.  Telling people to forget them is extremely poor advice.  What people should do is to assert their rights under the FDCPA.  Perhaps you should actually know what you are talking about before saying anything?  After all:

The quick response is to ask you to google it! I did and found good, and  shocking information about it, but left feeling very disappointed. They have lost a few class action lawsuits, and because they make so much money scamming people by collecting on expired debts, it hasn't done anything to stop them!

They have both of my numbers too and do the same thing. I'm getting rid of my land line and I'm going to change the cell phone number. You should google the class action lawsuits against them. They've lost several, and were even ordered to change their illegal collection practices, but they make too much money on all of those people that they frighten into giving them money.

Good to know! They keep calling me and I keep telling them I don't have any open charges. I asked for paperwork but only rec'd the paperwork showing a balance but not what it when it was purchased and the amount is different.

Got a call tonight at 8:41 PM. Almost answered it to curse them out for calling this late.
