This Number 1-626-213-2543 has been more frequently, when we answer there is a pause then a hang up. If you let the Machine get it there is no message. This number has been quit annoying lately.

like everyone else here i too am receiving such calls. my caller ID identifies them as "El Monte CA" i have no idea what this is getting quite annoying what can be done to stop this as when i pick up they hang up

Okay, we're all getting these calls - I've never managed to answer the call, but when I called them back I got that message about adding my number to their Do Not Call list.
What's the deal?  Are they going to continue to call me?  Or will this stop the problem?  They don't even tell you what the company is or leave a message.  What kind of customer service is THAT???

Calls my work number at least once a day.  Never leaves a message, and no one is there when I pick up.

OK, here's a story -- I started getting these calls this week, so finally I hit *69 and got the number. I checked it out on reverse look up and it is an UNLISTED land line in El Monte, CA. I'm on the East Coast. Now in October, I finally had to file a police report with MY local PD about another unlisted landline from STOCKTON, CA that called my house every day within the same hour each day since about May and hung up. I tried to get Verizon to help and they told me to go scratch, I called Stockton PD and after transferring me to everyone but the Marines, they told me I had to go to my local PD -- the officer there found out through THEIR methods that the call was from PacWest -- he called their customer service, they said it was one of their servers, and they'd remove my number, which, BTW, is unlisted. I got a copy of the police report so I'd have Pac West's number just in case, but it stopped. So when this started again, I called Pac West and got this snotty little, well, you can fill in the rest, and she tells me it's their number but they share it with another company (what?) and the person who holds the number is their customer but I can't be sure that it's that customer that is calling me, because it could be, and I believe she said "sluicing." So I said, explain that, and she said something like, one number can call another number to call another number and then that number calls me, but it doesn't mean that that number is calling me. You got that? So I said, what it sounds to me is like money laundering with phone numbers. She said, well, yes. So I said, money laundering is ILLEGAL! No comment. And they're not very upset about it and are not going to do anything about it. So as much as I don't want to, I'm calling my local police back, and I suggest all of you make a report about this to your local PD as well. I called the number and got the same message, which sounds to me like they are fishing for numbers to dial, why would a customer service number be non-toll free and unlisted, I even looked up what I guessed would be the main number for this number, and it turns out it is also an unlisted landline in El Monte. If you think it's petty to call the cops, I did too, believe me, but the cops didn't, it is against the law, and something about this just doesn't smell right at all -- how do you know who these people are and what they are doing with YOUR phone number? In this day and age of identity theft and all of the nonsense online, you have to be so careful.

Someone from this number has been calling me almost daily, sometimes twice a day; they never leave a message.  Today I was home and answered, they asked for someone other than me and I then asked way they continued to call and asked the to stop.  The guys said "If you buy our plan we'll stop calling you."  I asked for a supervisor and he hung up.  I wish I could find out the name of the company so I could file a formal complaint with their company and my state district attorney's office.

Call the cops,call PacWest or try calling your local gas and electric utility, complain and tell them to put you on their do not call marketing list, because it's likely that they're trying to sell you a worry free contract for your furnace/water heater/appliances through this third party number. If they ask for someone else at your number, it's probably because the people are simply stupid -- wouldn't have spoken to you the way he did if he wasn't. I called PacWest, then my utility, then waited to see if I had to get the cops involved. It stopped.

Same as above when you answer they hang up,When I call the number back it say's if you want to be put on the do not call list please state number including area code I've done this 3x's they are still calling. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

This number just called me as well.  I have nothing to do with Pac West or PSEG or anything else listed in this thread.  The person asked to speak with me, and I said "speaking" and then he hung up.   Very wierd.

this number calls me at least once a day. Then it just hangs up. When i call the number i'm asked to leave my number on the no-call list. Isn't there something illegal about this? Reading the other comments it sounds like somekind of phishing operation.

This number has been calling my son's NEW phone number.He ask me to look it up.He said they called several times in 2 days.They never leave a message,just hang up. I would recommend that no one call and give your number to anyone. It is probably a scam,and they want to make sure your name matches the number. Report it to the police and email your  State Consumer protection agency,or your Attorney General. This helped us,when we were getting collection calls from a company that we had no idea about.We never had any past due accounts,in fact an impeccable record with the credit bureau.Do not put up with this kind of harassment.

My mom also received this call.  They repeatedly called her yesterday.  She finally picked up and they started talking to her and asked for her name (so they didn't know her name ahead of time).  They asked her about service on a furnace and after she replied that she didn't own a house, they began asking about the refrigerator, stove, and washing machine.  After all this, they asked for her social security number and, not thinking, she gave it to them. Today was spent going to the banks and getting an identity theft protection program.  At this point, I am hoping it's just a third party agency trying to sell waranties and not something more sinister.  BE CAREFUL, when talking to people from this number.  She didn't even realize she had done it until this morning.  We also live on the East coast.

My sister just received a call from this number and the person on the other end said they were from the automobile association and they were calling about someone who lived at an address they gave. That someone is my son and they had his address and knew the car he drives. She of course did not confirm what they said but told them they had the wrong person then she called to tell me what happened. I called the number and it said it was the customer service number and if you wanted to be placed on the do not call list to leave your number. This is pretty scary and I am going to call the Police after writing this.

Yeah I got this call a couple of times and they hang up on me whenever I answer it... really freaky and annoying! It shows up as some sort of customer service but I wasn't able to trace which company it actually came from.

caller ID said "customer service"  nobody was there when I answered

Get calls all the time, and am sick of it.  No one on the other end.

My belief is that they are seeing who answers and correlating it with the number. So, if you have an unpublished number but answer the phone "Hello, this is Greg". They now have a name to sell. So the next call is "Hello, can I speak with John". Pretty sneaky.
