    This HAS to be a scam or someone trying to hack into your online IRS account.

    I received a call, followed by a text with a code for a password reset to my ID.me password. This is an online account that the IRS allows you to sign up for access to your taxes. They also left a voicemail with a code for password reset.

    Typical of scammers to try tricking a victim into giving them access to an account by  getting them to reset their password, but that is not called 'hacking', it is simply fooling the victim into giving it to them. Hacking is the 'art' of breaking into some digital device or software by brute force tactics undetected.
