You cannot have your pay garnished unless there is a court proceeding. This is a poor attempt to scare you into paying a fake debt.

Did not answer.  Checked 800notes.com. Sure enough,  they're already here. Criminals trying to get your hard earned money while they hide behind their phones and scare you. In person they are a bunch of cowards. Do not ever fall for any of there scams.

Watch John Oliver's YouTube vidio about debt collectors and so called "Zombie debts". That's what these [***] are trying to do.

They are scammers, when I mentioned they are looking at things that are 20 years old and settled and beyond the statuates of limitations they hung up, this number is listed on all the scam notice sites.

It's scary how easy it is to buy not only peoples debt, but all of their personal information. Makes you wonder how many of these debt collection agencies are even remotely legit. I had some moron call me a few years ago for my Father saying he had an outstanding credit card bill from 2009. Which was interesting since he died in 2007. They actually argued with me for a hour (which I kind of enjoy!), and kept telling me he was alive. Then tried to tell me they had a warrant for my arrest. Sad thing is, some people, especially seniors actually fall for this. They end up getting screwed out of hundreds or thousands of dollars on BS debt.

Plenty of information on here to explain it. Despite not providing a whole lot of details, my guess would be, judging from what's posted, it's an early start of an extortion scam. Supplying these characters with nothing was the right move, but you can provide them with a problem if you can completely ignore unknown numbers. I'd nobody's answering these calls in any way, they're harmless.

Got a call this morning from a female with some type of debt collection company about a debt I know nothing about.  She was sounding all legal and said they got a judgement against me and if I didn't pay they would file a lien against my social security.  I hung up.

Judgments are issued by a JUDGE - not because a debt collector says so.  You would have had a court hearing in order for that to happen.

I also received a call yesterday...several in fact telling me to call IMMEDIATELY!!!  Said I owed a certain amount.  I said I don't and it went on from there.  They would give me no info.  I said send me a letter with all the pertinent info.  So lets see if they do.

They called me a few minutes ago too. He was very rude, talking about a twenty year old debt. I told them to send something in writing and he said they did and it's too late, they would send a summons. He hung up.
