Unknown number. Didn't answer. No message.

Scam.  IRS trying to threaten you for money that you do not even owe!  Total scam!

Recording said "this is about the back brace, seen on TV, that you called about.  Press1 to talk with a representative, press 2 to discard this request"  I never called about any back brace, so I pressed two, some girl said hello, I said, take me off this list.  she hung up on me.

Found on my caller ID.  So apparently it is either the IRS or someone trying to sell me a back brace.  Maybe the back brace is for a person after they are done dealing with the IRS?

Missed call. But now blocked.  4 different unknown phone calls today when I usually get none.

This is only my personal generic information about unwanted calls.  I am only trying to help out here (to those naysayers who complain about my long winded rant).

We do not have to be nice to these people ....................  If you don't take my advice of not answering the phone, when they start to talk just reply politely in your sweetest voice:  NO THANK YOU and HANG UP.  That's what I do.

DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS (If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know, number not on this great web site, just call them back).

DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED! (When you press the number to have your number removed, you confirm that your number is a working number and your known active number is sold to another scammer).

ROBO CALLS: There are 800 area codes with 9,999,999 numbers. Since Robots call every number in succession, they don't need to buy lists from anyone. The FTC receives 250,000 to 300,000 complaints per month, with robocalls responsible for around 60% of those complaints.

TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HOME PHONE: block, use call forward selective to 216-025-0434 (gives them a recording saying its disconnected) , or save calls to a phone address book as spam with a description (spam medical, spam alert, spam microsoft), and continue using this great site for information. MY HOME PHONE (Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth® KX-TGH263B LCD/2 Handsets) BLOCKS 250 NUMBERS AND THE ADDRESS BOOK HOLDS 3,000 numbers and the phone talks to you and says spam from across the room (like if you are up on a ladder or disabled).  As of September 2015 I have saved 313 names as spam and don't answer them.

TELEMARKETING:  (and I quote) "The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and found that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3% in some cases)

Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.

Telemarketer who said something about Medicare and asked whether I am still having trouble with my back and my knee as though he actually knows my medical history.  I politely told him that I have no answer to his question and that I am not interested in whatever he is selling.

Just an illegal criminal telemarketer looking for Credit card information and identities to steal.

Why in the world would I want a back brace? I figured it was a scam when the caller ID displayed unknown name, out of my calling area, a robo call and not a 800 number! Usually the first sign that they are criminals.

Just report and warn others.

I received a call and when I answered the call was put on hold.  I was told they were returning my call about a back brace.  When the man answered he asked if I had Medicare??  When I told him no he just hung up.  I never had called about a back brace!!

My little old home grown computer system did't recognize the number and automatically blocked it but popped up a screen showing who called. Only identified as New York.  Hope they liked my windows fax machine software (it's non-working but still sends the handshake codes, though nothing can connect to it.)

Come on people. Have a little fun with these idiots. Answer their call and ask them a bunch of questions, then give them false information and finally start talking abusively to them. Insult them, harass them. After all, they called you, so you have every right to be as nasty, crude and insulting to them as you darn well feel like. Its a lot of fun to see how much abuse they are willing to tolerate before they finally hang up. I have found that doing this several times to them gets them to finally remove your number. Come on people - fight fire with fire

Why would anyone stoop to their pathetic level of humanity???

These overseas telemaggoters have been known become agitated and use abusive when people use the practice you are suggesting. Top that with relentless calls after the fact. I will still with the call blockers.

7 Mar, 1:25pm, CID => NEW YORK NY, uses many different scams. - Pay back taxes immediately by credit card or be arrested. John from shipping department, Back brace, knee brace, etc that you ordered is ready. Since I have no friends, relatives, or business contacts in New York with this area code, I can block the entire area code with my CPR blocker. Area code now auto blocked!!!!

I got mad at one lady one once and she coyly said "have a NICE day sir" - and then autocalled me before 6:00 am for the next month. Nobody on the other end after that - just the call. I am an older person with a landline and no "blocking" options. You cannot come out ahead being rude, and you can come out behind. Just don't answer any number you don't recognize.

This 'unknown number' called and a recording said, "This is in response to your inquiry of an on-air television ad.  Pse press 1 to talk to an operator, or 2 or not have call backs."  Probably will get some more.

Wanted to sell me a backbrace  that would be paid for by medicare.  Bad accent hard to understand, not sure what kind, did not seem to be Indian (dots).    bad phone connection also.

I, too, got a recording saying it was a return call regarding my request for more information about a back brace.  I haven't called anyone about a back brace.  Scam.

"New York" on the caller ID as well.  Back brace sales and  IRS collection, what a diverse company!  More than likely another spoofed number too.  I like to let the fax machine answer and let it scream in their ear.  Plus it ties up their line for a minute.
The phone companies have the power to stop these calls, but they won't because they make money from every call placed, money by providing the scammers with spoofed numbers, and from us when we buy more caller ID and blockers.   Why stop!
Until we force the phone companies' hand,  these calls will never stop.
