I just received a threatening phone call stating my social security number is under investigation by the federal government and my address is under investigation as well, English is horrible could barely understand the message the weird thing is that the phone number is too many digits 646-727-74339.

I've received 3 scamming calls from different numbers with this same format today, the most recent is this:
+1-646-389-6982.

I've advertised a bike on a classified ad here in Australia and some idiot is trying to get me to pay HIM money via western union (lol) so he can get a courier to pick it up.

The only contact details were as described below:

i received emails from zackhofficial@live.com, barrycraig16@gmail.com,  jilowilly001@gmail.com -- they all turned out to be scammers.. typical story:: working offshore, bad phone reception, pickup courier, either payment thru paypal or give out bank details, address details and phone number.. i had an ad in a classifieds also an have had nothing but trouble.. i even had one ask me what my last price was, when i said $48,000 is what i am asking but i will consider all offers  he replied with my last offer is $48,100.... what the hell?? **SCAMMERS**

there now targeting craigslist same numbers your describing, he wanted a money gram, i said no then he said i live in a different country but with a new york manahatten 646 area code, complete [***]'s

I'm selling a freezer on Craigslist and the text i recieved inquiring about purchasing it came from this number.  It sounded real until he asked for all of my pay pal info.  That is when i looked up the number on here and know he is a scam artist.

This number just left a text on my mobile phone which reads...

ID #50144: Your Google Account has been compromised .  Reply to this message with NOW to take a call to reactivate your account

I do have a google account, which accesses just fine, and Google doesn't have the number this text was sent to.  

Notice the classic sense of alarm they try to create by using the word NOW.

So, these people are largely pretending to be debt collectors, but are branching out into other identity phishing scams.  Geez, doesn't law enforcement ever look at these things.

Just got a text message from this number on 7/12 - - as I posted an item on  craigslist for sale:

hello seller...am craige do you still have this for sale <item title>

I responded - yes I have the item, please send me any questions you would like.

Then got these:

(1/2)   Thanks for the response I'm okay with the price & condition,i plan to
send the money in a bank check and UPS it to you, then I will arrange for a pick

(2/2)up after check cleared at your bank.. i'll need your Name and Delivery
Address not a p.o box for the check to be issue out to, i await your response
ASAP

These people have been texting me as well as emailing me, responding to an item I have for sale on Craigslist.  They always say they are very interested in my item, then try to get you to give them your name, address, an other information.  They ask you to send them your Paypal account information and say they will pay what you are asking for your item plus give you "extra money" such as $125.00 for your trouble, etc.  When I confront them and tell them I am reporting this number, etc. they will call me names.  These people are calling from different numbers all with east coast area codes.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!!

This family used this Phone #  716-380-7822  to scam me the sum of $2,300 ,,he claimed to stay in NY..pls help me out

got a txt from this number because i had something for sale on craigslist. wamts me to send my full name address etc and then i would receive payment plus an extra $50 for holding the item for him.  item is large furniture, when i asked how he was getting it shipped to himhe stopped responding.  SCAMMER

That's a good one which I will use myself when that idiot phony fake 'officer' ever calls me again and, he said his name was Mark David - via TEXT!  Told me he had a job!  What a phony!

Thus guy, karl", was my contact for a vacation rental. I felt off about the situation I asked for a phone number since the price was cheaper than expected . I mentioned that I wanted to check things out. He wrong a long message back, gave me this number, says he was a man of the church and I am the first to have doubted him. Ha! Busted, Carl!
