Call from this number is likely a robo-caller that disengages after 3 rings if not answered. Although it violates NY state DNC rules, the Attorney General's office does not enforce the laws.

Caller ID indicated the call from 646-517-0956 was from "AVF"  When I answered after a few seconds a man's voice said "hi, this is Frank.  How are you today?"  I said "who's Frank?" and the line went dead.

Caller ID "V………(time stamp)" ... NOV 3@3:03pm Eastern time … I do not answer calls I don't know. They did not leave a message.

Said: "Hello". Nothing, no response... No message...

"Hello, this is John, how are you today?"

Sounds like a computer controlled AI waiting for the right response. Guess it wasn't prepared for "Bugger the [REDACTED] off!".

This is a new one... Going to mark this as a prank call.

Received this day at 5:52 PM, ID showed the caller as   A.F.P.O.

Got a call from this number yesterday Mon. Nov. 24, 2014 at 2:56pm.   Caller ID said A.F.P.O.   They did not leave a message. Probably scam/telemarketer. I do not pick up calls I don't recognize!!!!

Pick up phone said hello a couple time no response, hung up.

No message left on answering machine, similar to many other such calls.  Blocked same.

Same BS "Hello this is [random name]. How are you today? Let me make this quick...".

This time they blocked the *69 reverse look up from my phone service. Sick of all these stupid calls right around when the kids are in bed...

Called multiple times - every time I picked up no one answered. It immediately rang again after I hung up. I am on the do not call list.

Robo call from paid fundraiser for some type of police benefit organization (most likely a union).  Couldn't tell if it was a real person or AI.  Third time they called in a one week period.

ID says "Not Available".  I am so bloody frustrated that DNC means absolutely nothing.  This is f'ing harassment and an invasion of privacy!  So SICK of it!

It wasn't the union. It is a phone scam. Nice try blaming it on the union.

Recieved a call from A.F.O.P. Did not leave a message ...Hung up...Like some of the others I do not pick up on these calls.

Caller ID for us said "A.F.P.O." which I guess is supposed to stand for "American Federation of Police Officers."  NOT "AVF" which, in the past has been supposed to represent "American Veterans Foundation."  The fact that the ID *CHANGES* indicates this is, at best, a TELEMARKETER.  That means that even IF this is a 'real' charity call, as much as 95% gets KEPT by the TELEMARKETER and does NOT go to the named charity.

At WORST, and most likely, this is ENTIRELY SPOOFED, a FAKE 'charity' and the money going to TELE-savvy THIEVES.
"American Veterans Foundation" is an ENTIRELY FAKE 'charity' run by the SCUMBAG **FILTHY** RICH  ***REYNOLDS FAMILY*** that has had NUMEROUS articles and TV expose's done on them about what SCAM ARTISTS they are.  And yet, they continue, protected by the POLITICIANS they PAY OFF to look the other way.

Our FOURTH SPAM call of the day, from all different numbers: 857-214-1559; 949-945-9112 and 855-284-3980.
That last one, the 855 # is likely tied to another FAKE charity, "AICR" or "American Institute for Cancer Research" which does NO RESEARCH and simply RE-publishes OTHERS' papers as their own (PLAGIARIZERS, so thieves in another way, too.) and POCKETS all the money they collect for 'research.'  SCAM ARTISTS.  Likely also connected to the REYNOLDS'.

This number called a dozen times while I was on an important call. On the 12th try I answered it with no one on the other line.

I got this call and called back.  They answered the call and knew who I was.  Asked for donation for veterans  I said maybe and they said they said they would send information in the mail.  They knew my address. Sounds creepy! When I get the information, I will turn it owner to the police and file a complaint. I looked for legitimate veterans charities on the Internet and they were not listed. 😳

Call this evening from A.F.P.O. Did not recognize so did not pick up. No voice mail left. Thanks for other posts about this scam.
