Calls from this number continuously

A woman asked for my mother by her first name. My mother was never listed to our phone number. Mom died at the ripe age of 100 several years ago. When I told the woman that, she asked if I was the one that called about lower back pain. Fortunately my call blocker has enough memory for 1,000 numbers because lately the scammers have been dreaming up new numbers so fast that I am adding 1 every other day.

"This is in response to your call, about our ad on TV."  A recorded message and no, I did not call.  Another back brace scam............

Calls from this number are very annoying. How do we stop these unwanted phone calls especially when there is serious illness at this home?

Don't answer in any way or consider a call blocker/app. Any kind of answer can keep them calling. Live numbers are better than ones that have no answer of any kind.

Do not answer these types of calls's yet they still come in ?? Cid said UNASSIGNED but hung up before answer machine cut in - go figure !!! Thanks for these posts ... And yes I have noticed a uptick of calls's and #'s as well . Perhaps trying to ride the wave of the political season !!!

Here's a few more numbers we should block - same people same scam: (646) 257-3615, (646) 517-5391, (702) 299-6021, (718) 285-7810. I'm sure there are many others.

I get these calls all day from around the world, its gotten absurd. The FCC are useless you are on your own!

Voicemail robot informed me they were 'following up on my interest and request for info' re a tv ad for a back brace (as others above have stated).
I don't own a tv so I think they're working off databases that are age/Medicare eligibility related, trolling for a bite.

Panasonic has at least one phone that can block 250 numbers--can you get one? Unfortunately, you have to wait until the jerks call you once to block them, then save the number in the "blocked" category, then future calls are blocked. The spoofers unfortunately know that they can call you again with a different spoofed number. But at least you only get one call from each number with the blocking function, which is a lot fewer than the 10 or more times a day that some scofflaws call. To avoid multiple rings, I now pick up calls from unrecognized callers and hang up after the first ring if I can, then block them.

Thanks for letting me know to block this number. Everyone, if you can, go to the ConsumerReports.org website and sign their petition to get Congress to take more action.

ConsumerReports.org is also trying to pressure the phone companies to stop pretending they can't do anything about this - please help:
