Applied for an online job posting at hotjobs.yahoo.com , The company name was confidential.  The hotjobs.yahoo.com link for applying went to web page titled Mandarin Employment, Application Page.  It seemed legitamate.  During the basic information gathering, it seemed a little strange that questions about continuing my education were asked.  They claim to be part of the Career Network.  Got the call as others have.  They asked way too little information for this being a telephone job screening, then went into asking about continuing my education.  I hung up. Checked and area code is Manhattan, New York.

I just got a call from this number on my cell and I dont have unlimited minutes. They wanted to talk to me up to 45 minutes on my cell and when I told them to call my home number at there exspense they told me to call them. This is a long distance number to me. COME ON NOW WHO IS THIS!

I applied for a job through a link that Google found me.  The web page said employers like applicants who are willing to further their education. I went along with the premise and selected a college, Capella University, a "private, for-profit on-line" school (per Wikipedia).  I've heard repeatedly from the school, and had this "verification" call.  What I HAVEN'T received is any sort of call from an EMPLOYER. (I don't know why they think that the unemployed have time or money for college anyway.)

This is a LEAD GENERATION MILL FOR PRIVATE-FOR-PROFIT COLLEGE INSTITUTIONS. Employment Select.com sells your information to "Private-For-Profit" College Institutions. Here's how it works.. They extract your information from the "bait-n-switch" job applications they post, then call you to ask questions about an interest in furthering your education and your interest in other career fields. Then inform you that you are completed with your first interview and someone will contact for your second. Only to have the college whom they sold your information too, call and attempt to enroll you into their college. Translation: A Private-For-Profit College(s) contacts you (because you informed "Employment Select.com" and/or their "Verification Specialist" that you're interested with furthering your education, therefore a lead.) Employment Select HAS NO INTENTION of placing individuals with direct or indirect employment/employers. There MAIN and ONLY PURPOSE is to verify and confirm your data, ask you if you're interested in education, then sell it to private for profit colleges. Their "Verification Specialist" AND website hides behind the mask of employment screenings, only to screen you for college lead generation.

I had checked out this scam on getting your imfo. And selling it to colleges for tuition and etc. This needs to stop. When they had called, i had thought they were ligit. But all free online job sites have a page for you to give imfo. To some college board that clames that they can find work for you if they get you to fill in the blanks. That's b-s.

Your right it is a SCAM! They called me at 6:30AM NV time, but I have an East Coast number. If nothing is said right away after saying "hello" I will hang up Knowing it's not for real and just computer generated. I too have been looking for a job. I also don't remember when applying for any job that I gave permission to allow a third party to contact me.

They called me in response to an a job I 'applied' for on line. They go by the name of employment select. They wanted to ask me questions that would take up to 45 minutes. I asked them to email me the application or questions. They refused. Sounds like a scam.

No voicemails.. All I get is calls...

This number sometimes calls me 2 times a day but they never leave a message.

After completing my application at Orion International, within minutes I started getting calls from this place.

got the same thing!!!! asked to verify some info.  said the manager will call me back to schedule an interview.  asked about the company and if this call was from a school district, and the person replied that they are just 20 minutes away from where i live, weird... now i feel like an idiot thinking that i finally am going to work!!!! dont be fooled by these people like i was.  had my hopes high now i am upset.  i guess i will not apply to CONFIDENTIAL company's anymore.

I did not answer it because i didn't know the number so i sent it to my voice mail and once i did that , that either hung up or something because i got no voice mail left on my phone. and no company name or anything showed up on my phone just the number.
