This is actually someone from Social Security. This number called me at the specified time stated in a letter to do my yearly SSI review. I was surprised as the previous two years the calls originated from local office but due to government changes calls come from the New York office.

Is this a real number for disability

Might be better to ask someone from SSDI than a stranger on a  phone number site.

I have not answered but they leave a message saying they are with social security. I’m just not sure if this is a scam or not

Call back gets, "you have reached an outgoing-only or non-working number.  Goodbye."  It's possible that it is a message from the SSA but why risk it?  Scroll back to the previous post by  "MikeHuntleton."  The 800 number for the SSA office is right there.

This is not someone from SSI

Received a call from a SS rep at the time agreed upon for my phone appointment from this number. So yes legit.

They called 8 a.m. to give schedule an appointment with the SSA. I was suspicious, but I told them I wouldn't give any information. They still gave me an appointment for noon today, and when I went to the SSA office at the time, I confirmed that the caller wasn't spam and that the appointment was valid. When I asked why they were calling from a different state, they said they used a Google number, so the caller ID showed it as calling from another state. So, don't worry, it's not a scam

I had a scheduled tel. Interview with the Las Vegas office, but received a call from them 3 hours earlier. The name of the person was Ms. Perkins. She refused to help me, because I was out of the country at the time.

They called my husband, and when I heard him giving out our vital statistics, I said, 'Call them back at the 800 number or go there in person.' She told him he might lose his benefits.  Isn't that a scare tactic?  I'm weary of them, but this started a bad fight in an already toxic environment.   Shame on whoever this is, even if it is Ss, they need to do better than this.  This is too scary for this day and age.

Here too they made him an appointment,  but I think anyone can make anyone an appointment with just a tiny bit of info, or maybe none at all, yes, no?  I didn't check yet, but I will.

Believe it was a scam call

The language was English they was talking about my disability social security I have an appointment for December

646-536-9618 is a legitimate number for the SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION. They have a new phone system with Amazon Web Services and it's complicated to move to a different system. You can ask the agent for their call back number. You can ask them to verify a piece of info about you if you're concerned. But please don't screen and reject this call. You can't call this number back. It's just an outgoing number.

Interesting, back in December "N/A" stated that the caller told them this was a Google number.
Now, you are telling us that they are calling using Amazon Web Services (which happens to be run by a different company than Google).
Scammers can spoof any number, and what better a number to spoof than one that cannot be called back (regardless of who it belongs to) since shills can come to sites like this one and say "Oh, its real, it is truly real, believe me!" because they know that the people receiving their scam calls cannot call back to find out what is actually at the other end.

It is obvious that you are not with the SSA, since you wrote you post as a third-party.  So why are you so insistent that people take calls from this number?
Is that because such actions defeat your attempts to scam people?

If you can post any links to official SSA webpages that definitively show that this number belongs to the SSA, then I would be willing to consider that you might not be a shill for a scam operation.

They call me two times and say the same asking for social security of my daughter.. and I told her I can’t I don’t remember I call a social security number 800 7721213 and they told me they never call me for asking for social security of my daughter so . Maybe is scam. I don’t know well I chose goin to office in person ..
