I live in Edmonton, AB, Canada and this number tried to purchase an iPhone4 from me off Kijiji. They tried to send me a fake Interac Online transfer for $400 asking for a tracking number to receive a reference number to get my payment. Interac e-transfers never require a tracking number from a courier. Phone Interac to be sure and they immediately told me it was fraudulent.

They gave me a shipping address and everything. I was so close to sending it off but trusted the guy feeling. I am so glad that I read this post. Thank you for posting this!

646-543-0830 this phone number sent me a text replying to my Kijiji as in Calgary Ab.
I found it strange that an out of town person was replying to a Canadian ad, but let it go. They provided me with a shipping address claiming they wanted to send it to their Daughter in NYC but the receiver name was a male. They proceeded to send me a fake E-Trasnfer account asking for a tracking number and then they'll put the money in my account Etc. I looked up the site online and it exists, except there is no such things as asking for a transit number prior. The persons name on the email was from "Ruth Mason" this number is definitely a kijiji fraud user!!!

Tried the same thing here in Ontario, Canada with a high end guitar I have on Kijiji.

I had almost sent off an item this jerk Ruth mason sent me an email stating he wanted my item for $500 and he would send me the money first then I can ship it off he stated it was for his daughter and I confronted him and he's saying oh stop the lie or are u trying to rip me off! R u kidding buddy! He said he lived in Brampton,on yet he wanted it sent to nigeria! Watch out guys he's a scammer!!

I am currently receiving texts from this person right now about an ad I placed on Kijiji!  AM I EVER GLAD I GOOGLED IT!!  Thank you to whomever made this website!!!!  What a jerk to prey on people just trying to sell stuff!  Just goes to show that you really need to watch and be aware of what's going on.  I live in Ontario, Canada and they wanted me to send it to western Africa.  They also changed added another number to the list:  646 543 1014

New Yorkers will often buy things from toronto kijiji to send to their daughters in Nigeria. Try again loser.

I suspected it from the outset. But went along with it to humor my wife.Wanted to send an iPad to his daughter in Nigeria. Got a email from trackingnumber_department@consultant.com checked with Dr. Google and confirmed the scamster. Mason Ruth this time around the number is 646.494.2860

This guy messaged me saying he wanted my macbook pro for 1500, thank you to who ever that made this site! This time his number was 631-904-4214

His new number is 16464934002 . after I called him out on trying to rip me off he text back SCAM ALERT!.. He`s a real dirt ball

The same name (email ) Ruth mason MSGd me from the number (818) 651-0165 looking to buy my cell phone for 800$ If i shipped it to his daughter in Nigeria. He said he was going to pay pal me the money, I got an ema in my spam box and it looks almost identical to pay pals emails except my name has a capital letter where it normally doesn't. It also has attachments. But the paypal logo and everything else to really legit. It asked me to email the tracking number to trackingnumber_department@consultant...etc. I forwarded the email to spoof@paypal ! But thought I should let you know he is using a different number for the same scam !

so glad I found this site!  I'm from New Brunswick Canada.  He is now using 1-509-265-7932.  Ruth Mason only now he is saying his name is Mason Ruth. Tried to buy my wedding rings off Kijiji and did same thing, e-transfer request but release of money only on providing shipping number.  Wanted them sent to his daughter in London, UK as a birthday present. Even offered an extra $100 to cover the shipping.  Sounded weird and when he sent me the e-transfer it looked odd and started researching and found same thing, interact won't ask for shipping number and then I found this.  I told him he was a scammer and I would be reporting him.

In Ontario, having a text chat with the fella right now, Ruth Mason, he's using the number 647-793-5713. The email address for PayPal gave it away.. Again, a present for his daughter, Carol. What a slimey dude.

I put an ad on Kijiji to sell a Tiffany's necklace and Mason Ruth wrote a reply, asking me to ship it to his daughter Carol in Nigeria and that he would pay $100 more than the asking price. He said that he would etransfer the money. I googled "Mason Ruth" and this page came up! I'm so glad that I did! His email address is masonruth02@gmail.com.  Beware of him!

I got the same thing from the number (818)6510165 with the e-mail franp08@hotmail.com

He sent the shipping bogus via trackingnumber_department@consultant.com with the name Ruth Mason.  Moron sent me the e-mail twice - each looked rather "different" but same name and same e-mail.  Mood swings

I didn't trust him the second he spouted Nigeria - nobody buys a $2000 MacBook Pro to ship to Nigera..

I got a text to from carol Ruth saying she wanted to buy my cracked iPod for 300 and to send it to her daughter mason Ruth in Nigeria. 😂😂 I'm like why in the world would this lady be searching in my small town area for this. And why does her daughter have a guys name. The number this time was  612 520 7807

I was not so lucking.  I did send the Samsung tablet and got suspectous when they wanted the tracking number as e-transfer never asks for it as I am told.  This was the first time I sold an item on Kijiji without someone coming to pick up the item.  Everything seemed legit.  How wrong I was.  I tried stopping the shipment but was to late.  This leason cost me about $300.00.  The number he used was (601) 873-3973 and he was sending the item to his daughter who lived in Ottawa.  Also used the name Mason Ruth.

Appears this Kijiji scammer has a new phone number - same BS but I received the call from a different number 306 988 5980  trying to purchase a Galaxy S6 for his daughter at 29ijaiye street, itire, ijesha Tedo, Lagos Nigeria +23401  Fraudulent e-transfer for $550 which would go into a trust account pending receipt of item.

I also got the same request to send one of my products to them first, and then I would get a confirmation email with the Interac transfer from Online-banking@email.com

The lack of a needed password, the lack of social media icons, the email.com address, the lack of expiry date, the lack of the Interac contact info, and the ship first and then you get a confirmation email was all flags that this was fishy. Hope this helps someone else.
