Someone sent me a text message from this number in response to a craigslist ad I posted. It seemed immediately suspicious because when I tried to call the number, all I got was electronic noises instead of a ringing tone or voicemail. The unknown person referred to what I was selling as "your item" and did not once specify what it was, apart from an obvious copy-paste from the title of the ad I had published. The text messages were long and came one right after another, indicating that it was an auto-reply system rather than someone actually reading my replies and responding in a way that made sense. Finally, I knew for sure it was shady business when they were insistent on paying via PayPal and wanted to know my full name and the e-mail address I have registered with PayPal.

I've heard of similar scams, and I'm sure this is one, too -- mysterious buyer, overly eager to take what you're selling  (even for a greater price than listed), insistent on using PayPal.... then, once they have your name and e-mail,  they send you fraudulent PayPal e-mails saying you have received the balance etc. etc.
AVOID!

I also received text messages in response to my Craigslist posting.  After reading the above, I responded that I cannot accept Paypal and so far they have left me alone :). Thanks for the heads up!

My husband also received a text from this number about a Craigslist ad he had posted. And we got the same type of auto-response text messages. They even offered to send an extra $700.00 for transport. This is absolutely a SCAM!!!! Thank you mdc for taking the time to put up such a detailed post regarding this number.

i also recieved a message.  its a scam.  trying to get me to ship my bike 10000.00 to him

I also received a text message from this number on a CL ad.  He didn't want to do PayPal but wanted to send a cashiers check and then have his "mover" come pick up the merchandise after the check clears.  I asked him twice were he lived .. and said that I could possibly deliver if not to far away.  He never responded... thought it seemed a little odd.  But, you hate to not trust people..  googled his number and this is what I found.  Nice.... pretty sad u cant trust anyone anymore!
