Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - Sharon LThese calls are definitely bogus. I work for CPA Firm and we have received many call from clients regarding call such as these. I had a voicemail on my home number from them as well. The IRS will never email or call you regarding any tax issues. They will send you letters and notices. Please do not return this call. File a report at the email address provided by Tamianth in the previous post.
- Good TimesGuy called with an Indian accent from the "IRS" investigating a lawsuit against me. Said he needed my layers information. When I started laughing at him he said I'd be arrested at home within 45 min. I thanked him for the heads up and asked if they could arrest me at my office because it was more convenient for my schedule. He yelled at me again, I laughed, he hung up. Good Times!
- Caller: IRS Scam
- Bill Fontaine| 1 replyJust received a message from an Indian person. Couldn't hardly make out what he was saying. Googled the phone number and it looks like a lot of people are receiving the same bogus calls.
- Call type: Prank

- Call type: Debt collector
- E O RHow do these people get our names to call us?

Upsetting message.- Caller: Not SURE
- Call type: Prank
- anonimuos replies to Bill FontaineI just received a similar call, from the same guy I suppose (Indian accent who could not even speak properly my name nor my address) with the same threats.
I tried to call the IRS and TIGTA 800 numbers....but due to "unfortunally a large number of calls" they asked me to call later on, perhaps tomorrow (????).
I sent a written question/complaint to TIGTA about it, do let's see how they respond to it.
I am also inclined to believe this is a scam..... - T C MThese people really need to practice their English before they get into this scam. The guy (Micheal Delgotto) said as a favor he would hold back having me arrested if I called him back at the 646.583.1741 number and cleared up the criminal investigation he was conducting. I kept the message just to play for all my friends and relatives.
- Caller: Claimed to be The IRS

IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. - RFI saved the message and played for my friends. Its so funny.
- SPJust got the voice message today using name Michael Delgado from the Criminal Investigation Unit with the IRS. I heard about this scam earlier so I went online to check the number.
- Caller: Claimed to be IRS
- DPI got one yesterday as well and the guy used the name Michael Blanc. I called the number back even though I knew it was a scam and got voice mail with a Michael's name on it. Yes, if the caller spoke English they might have a better chance of scamming people. I think with all the hacks lately (I'm with Anthem) that it is so easy to get people's info and do these types of things.
- Caller: IRS Criminal Investigation
- TomThis guy used a name Kevin Marshall but obviously with an Indian accent. He said that my wife had a criminal tax lawsuit filed against her. He left this 846 number to call, and wished my wife "God Bless". I told my wife to call the police.
- TLo replies to CWG40| 1 replyJust called them back and the person who picked up said they would transfer me to michael Delgado (The officer that called me) when mr Delgado picked up it was the exact same voice. I read them what you posted and they hung up
Thanks - RosebudGot the call in MO today. Left a message on the machine asking for a return call. Got an answering machine with Michael DelGatos name. When I looked up the number I discovered the SCAM. Google is my best friend!!
