Got a text message from this number saying "Wachovia has limited your #### Card, to reactivate call 646 755 6212"

First of all, the message obviously wasn't from Wachovia...

And I was wondering how they got digits from my card until i realized that the FIRST 4 of many Wachovia cards are probably exactly the same.

Got the same text as referenced by others in this thread.  The Wachovia Check cards probably have thousands that start with 4828.  I wonder if the number to call in New York has some sort of unathorized charging scheme that is going to show up on a phone bill sometime ...  I would not even call it on a cell phone during the night or a weekend when the minutes are no charge.

I received the same text, did not respond because I thought it was odd, and I still had fraudulent charges to my account.  Please be careful and check your account information and balances even if you do not respond.  No idea how they got my information but they did.  You can call the Wachovia Fraud Dept at 800-359-8977 (this number is legit but you can check their website for it to make sure also).

Got text from alerts@alert.com stating that my Wachovia debit card had been limited, and to call 646-755-6212. I thought it strange that they referenced the first 4 numbers of my card and not the last 4.  I called the bank and was told that all cards start with 4828 and that it was a fraud. Wachovia would never send a text message and they can afford an 800 numbers.
