got harassing calls from this number stating this guy was Officer John Williams with a very heavy Indian accent and that I was going to be arrested due to banking fraud, check fraud and embezzlement from a company I have never ever heard about stating I borrowed money and did not pay it back.  This is bogus and I want these calls stopped

Had the same call yesterday 10/15/2013 and he happened to be looking for my spouse. Identified himself as an officer. I asked him from what Department and after several confused replies he told me "The (unclear) crimes unit...". I then asked him was precinct to which he stuttered and got very nervous. I told him to not call this number or any other number again or I would have MY department look into it further. I told him that identifying himself as an officer was a BIG mistake and calling my cell number was an even BIGGER mistake. If he continued to call I would have him investigated and arrested. He then went into a rage and used all sorts of language which was funny to listen to, and then hung up. DO NOT worry about these guys. They are small time and like a hemorrhoid. Don't worry about them. If the calls continue, contact your local authorities.

I got the same type of call yesterday and initially it scared the begeezus out of me!  Fortunately, growing up in a family of police officers i quickly caught on that he was a fraud!!  I also started asking questions at which time he got very nervous which made his Indian accent even worse!!  I will definitely report him..............LOSER!

Same issue. Guy called representing himselfnas an officer, stating my mom needed to pay her $1700 to avoid being taken to jail. I confronted the guy and he reduced himself to swearing at me. Wish there was a way to get them and arrest them.

n got several calls from Officer Williams. I finally returned his call, and he stated that I owed Mutual Advance, $545.03. I stated that I had never heard of this company & that I certainly didn't owe anyone that amount of money. But I played along for a minute until he couldn't answer one of my questions. I then said "you know that there are a lot of scamers out here and I'm NOT sending my money to NP one I don't owe & hung up. He tried calling me back, I didn't answer my phone. Please don't entertain this Officer William, he's NOT an officer of nothing.

"Why won't the Irs contact me.."  You haven't been contacted by the IRS now.  These are foreign criminals pretending to be IRS agents, it is a very well known scam that has been goi9ng on for years.
    IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.

Official IRS Government site detailing this scam and providing links to report it:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam

If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS.  Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):
