saying they're the irs...call them back and mess with them.

Left a voice mail saying that they were the IRS and I need to call their agent back.

This is a copied transcript of the call I got today.
“We have sent a letter to your ddress but you never responded back you have been listed as a primary suspect in the case which has been filed by the internal revenue services the issue at hand is very time sensitive the very second you receive this message I need you or your attorney to return the call back my number which is 570-427-3148 I repeat 570-427-3148 if you don't return the call you will have to face the legal consequence"

So, what now? How are they allowed to make such accusations? The call back number is not the same as the number that called, only same area code.

Got almost the same call but from a different number.

Got a call and they left a voice mail telling me I needed to call them back.  It also said an Internal Revenue Agent would be waiting to speak with me.  I did not return call.

They called my work phone, I didn't answer, left a voicemail of a recording claiming to be from the office of FBI agent Catherine Richardson.  My address was under investigation by the Dept of Tax and Crime Investigation, a warrant was out for my arrest, and to call 509-392-6033 to resolve.

Received a call from this number at noon. It left me a message saying that there is a law suit against me with  IRS. It also left me a Ks number 9136839013 for return call

This number is calling my job over and over and over again. They claim I owe money, but when I ask for company name they will not provide and want me to pay them in ITunes gift cards. SCAM!!! My employer is very upset. IDK how they got my information. Male says his name is Steve Foster but has heavy middle eastern accent.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.  IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government.     Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest as related to ordinary tax disputes.  Having a deficiency in taxes owed by way of audit is NOT a crime.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks or Itunes cards or similar for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.   All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Absolute scam.  About all you can do is see if your employer will install some sort of call blocker.  Do not return the call.  Often these callers will concentrate on women, the elderly, recent immigrants and those who might have had some financial difficulties in the past.  Calls originate in India and Pakistan.  Personal information is bought and sold; some scammers will pay as much as $5.00 per name or "leads" as they call them.

They called saying they were the irs headquarters. They said they hace a warrant under my name...Lol.

I got a call from this number today saying its the FBI its a final notification against me etc etc from dept of tax and crime  an arrest warrant is out  in my name

Called left me a message that there was an arrest warrant under my name and that I should could them before they have the local police me me up! Right!   Blocked

They said I was being investigated for tax fraud or something to that effect.

I got a call from this number and it stated it was Catherine Richardson from the FBI and I have a warrant out for my arrest and my address is under investigation.  I reported it to the FBI.

I just got the same call!  I reported it to the FBI!

Pre recorded message state the IRS has filed a lawsuit and warrants for my arrest. Provided a call back number (301)329-0235, to get more information. An agent is waiting for your callback.

Said to have my lawyer call back another number or face legal consequences

Got a recorded message stating it was the IRS and there was a warrant for my arrest and gave a number to call to resolve this matter

I got a call from this number today.  They left a voice mail saying something about the FBI and a case with an arrest warrant.   I did not call back but may stop by my local police department to let them hear the message so they can put out a warning.
