Just got a call from this number, an automated voice message was left after I ignored the call since I didn't recognize the number. The message says it's from United Healthcare giving me a number to call and a security code to do some sort of survey to make sure my claims are paid on time. I'd rather wait and see if they call back with a human before I go answering any personal questions to a machine.

Could be legit, could be a phisher.

It's legit.  Just call the number so that UHC can verify whether you or your spouse have any other insurance coverage that may apply to a portion of your pending claim(s).

Yes, it is a legitimate robo call from United Health Care.  The problem is that their system is so screwed up all you hear is a garbled tape message.  Call them back and give them the info they need.  They are checking to see if you have any other insurance so they can stop honoring your claims.

Called the UHC # on their web site and were told this call was a scam. They never contact people with an ID number to call back Told to call 877-828-5737

I agreed UHC cust ! They called last Thanksgiving eve or Thanksgiving day and left message. My wife called the United Healthcare number from our medical card and the agent told us United Healthcare do not call customers on Holidays.   It appeared these scammers do not know what the Fxxk is Thanksgiving day.    When you call back the 877-828-5737, they asked for you Social security numbers.

The reason they don't know (and probably don't care) is because they're over in India or someplace spoofing numbers and Thanksgiving is an American holiday

Yes, they have been robo dialing me every few days and left a number to call back and verify information. I'm glad I looked this up! It doesn't sound legit because of a reference number, never a name, and they call at odd times.

They are at it again, I've received two calls in the last few days.  Here's the voicemail -

Hello this is Linda from United Health Care's coordination of benefits Department calling Xxxxxx Xxxx. Please call 1-877-828-5737 and enter this eight digit personal security code xxxxxxxx to answer a few simple questions. This will help ensure that your claims are paid quickly and accurately and if you have health insurance through another carrier besides United Health Care please have that other member ID card handy when you call. Again the number to call is 877-828-5737 and enter xxxxxxxx. If we missed your call to our dedicated line. We may call you back in a few days. Thank you.

I confirmed with UHC that this is not them calling.

I received the same robo call allegedly from UHC.  The same message including phone number and an attached 8 digit reference number was ledt.  I called their representatives and confirmed my wife had not been called for any campaigns regarding health needs or claim needs.  Definite scam.  UHC will call and leave a reference number but this deal is not legit.
