- pyrogrrl replies to confusedI had a similar situation. I called them for a balance payoff. They gave it to me, and I paid it off and CLOSED the account. Now they are trying to get supposed back interest for $500. This company is impossible to deal with.
- Helper_1 replies to lametlamet,
I tried your link and this is what I found...
**OTS is Now Part of the OCC
See OCC Website for Up to Date Information**
The original site is no longer maintained and will direct you to the current link.
The new link is http://occ.gov/
And yes, GE Money is totally relentless.
Thanks for the information. - Helper_1 replies to MatchooMatchoo,
When one hits hard times, you want to pay but can't make the min. payment...$5.00 a week or month or etc. "should" at least show your attempt to continue to pay and not ignore your responsibilities.
Pathetic? Maybe some who run up bills knowing that they will never or could never pay, however I believe most people go into such "contracts" with these companies in good faith then hit a snag along the way.
Maybe that's naive of me or just cautiously optimistic about people. Either way, insults rarely produce productive results.
"...of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong."--Dennis Miller - samspotDue to major health issues and medical bills, the last several months have created a new kind of torture for me. I had serious fiancial problems, and I have been working with an authorized credit counseling program to put together a DMP (Debt Management Proram). Four companies that I had a small loan with all agreed to the proposal which was put in place two months ago. Most all collection calls stopped once monthly payment arrangements were in place. However, today I received a call from this number (GE Money), and the caller could barely speak English. I think s/he said my balance was $600. I honestly could not understand 90% of what was said. I carefully explained that the repayment plans have been approved, instituted, and in place for over two months. I asked them to stop calling me, and I reported this to my CCCS advisor. If it is necessary for them to call me to ensure I am sticking to the agreed-upon plan, then they should make sure that whomever is calling can at least speak and understand MY language. I can only hope the call was recorded (as s/he threatened), so someone, somewhere, at some point will hear my side of the conversation.
- Caller: GE Money
- Call type: Debt collector
- noobie replies to MatchooActually I got a new number from comcast and the number i got gets these GE capital collections calls all the time asking for the previous owner of this phone number. Not my fault, i dont even own GE products never mind taking out a loan for a GE appliance.
- sickofit replies to MatchooThat's funny-that $5.00 will stop the phone calls. I pay 50 to 100 a month, but because I fell behind at some point they feel justified in calling my phone 10 times a day on an average. Also, they use different phone numbers assuming that you're stupid enough not to recognize that it's them. I incurred this bill because I had a sick cat and have probably paid 5 times the original amt. and yet the balance rises because of the phenomenal finance and late charges. I'm ready to try the OCC.
- Sarah HartCalls many times a day - no individual at the other end. Calls come to both my work number and my cell.
- Caller: GE Capital Bank
- Brenda GonzalesThis number call me all the time.
- Sandra Lima| 2 repliesJust block the number in your cell.
Let them "talk to my hand"- Caller: GE ?
- Call type: Debt collector
- Flynn replies to Sandra Lima| 1 replyBlocking the number only works for a limited amount of time. After awhile, they simply call you using a different number. So far, I've blocked about four different numbers. Once they become aware that I've blocked them, I'll start getting these calls from a different number, and the pattern begins again. There is no WAY this kind of harassment should be legal, let alone so prevalent! Government wants to take control of every facet of our lives. Let them actually DO SOMETHING TO HELP THEIR CITIZENS AND BAN THIS CRAP!!
- Send them to a roach motel replies to FlynnWhat you need is a call blocker that will let you block area codes & unknown/private/out of area. Once you do that the calls will slow down to a trickle. They'll never vanish 100%, but once the scammers see that your number isn't making them any money it isn't put on the list they sell to other scammers (the sucker list). You can't escape the war dialer (the one that dials from 0000 to 9999 in a prefix), but you'll have them blocked. This is a very simple solution & saves you a lot of grief.
