This number keeps calling me up to 3 times a day. I don't owe anyone any debt. When they do leave a message they never ask for a specific person or leave any other details. It's also a computer leaving the message not a real person. It is getting really annoying and I'm considering paying to change my number. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

why would they f the bill collectors they dont have there info right half the time

Yes it is stellar recoveries for Comcast but they use all sorts of numbers from local to 888, to 877.  Send me a bill is what I tell them and even then I would be leary to be sure they are really collecting for the actual company

This number has called my cell non-stop looking for someone else. I obtained my cell phone and new number last fall. I have told Comcast that the guy they are looking for doesn't own my number any longer(I am a woman besides!). They promised to take me off of their list and stop bothering me. Apparently, they went ahead and forwarded MY cell number to a collection agency for the previous fool's debt!

I'm sick of the calls, stop calling me. I have NO debts with Comcast!

They are a debt collector. I'm literally a teenager, so they must be a scammer.

I've gotten a few calls from collectors over my life. I'll be the first to admit my finances have been problematic over time.  Now that I don't get these kinds of calls (except today from Steller) I wanted to share with you a way to deal with debt collection in Minnesota:

1. Refuse to PROVIDE information. If they ask you to verify your street address, any part of your SSN#, or any personal information period. Simply tell them "for security purposes I am not comfortable providing my private information to you." If they're stupid enough to TELL you the information to verify ask "that might be mine, but what if you called someone that wasn't me? You just gave them my personal information! What company do you work for?" They'll hang up.

2. Confirm you're now aware of their claim, but doubt the validity of the account. Simply say "I understand you have this account for collections, but I don't remember this account. Please send me evidence of the account, and all actions that led to the current balance. Until then please cease all attempts to contact me pertaining this alleged debt." When they ask where to send it DON'T GIVE YOUR ADDRESS - Simply say "Please send it to the address you have on file".

3. Don't be a prick - People that are in these kinds of jobs are typically there for two reasons. Either A) they've fallen on hard times and need to take any job to get by. In which you wouldn't want people to come to your office or cube to swear and threaten you, or B) This is the best they could do with their skills. In which case their social skills are typically that of a 2 year old chimp, and they will fire back just as much as you throw at them. Additionally, they have your information. Piss them off enough, and they might just cause more trouble for you.

Either way, best concept - Pay your bills on time. If you end up in collections make sure that you don't let them push you around.

They call me every other week-  robo-call for a name which isn't mine. How do you get their database corrected??

Correct me if I am wrong, I believe those robo-calls are illegal. I know my sister in the past sued 1 or 2 collection agencies for breaking collection laws and have won; enough to pay off her debt to Target her lawyer and little bit left over.

They tried to collect $600 from me from a bogus medical debt they claimed was 5 years old. Seriously? I told the woman who called it was clearly a scam and hung up on her.

Call asking for my husband - who is deceased.  He said he would remove his name from the list and I would get no more calls but would not tell me why he was calling. "Personal matter".  I see others say they are a collection agency for Comcast - we have never had Comcast.

They told me they were CL something or other and were a midiation firm. When I continued to ask for more company information they hung up on me. I called back and was continued to be hung up. Finally someone gave me some fake info and then blocked my number so I can’t call them back. Not legit at all

Left no voice mail, caller ID read, "out of area."
