- KristineI have received 3 call and recorded message from this number but haven't call it back yet. It states to please call Linda at United Health Care and she leave a pin to enter in when you call back. I have this insurance but nothing has change with it. Makes me wonder why its a recorded message and not a live person calling?

- GPrattLike other reporters of this number, I've received calls from (678) 421-4926 every 2-3 business days, asking that I call (877) 828-5743 with nebulous suggestions that they need me to contact them to help make sure that my claims are processed correctly. The recording also informed me that if I was no longer insured by Oxford/United (which is true), I should have my new insurance information handy to provide to them when I call. They provided an 8-digit PIN for me to use (not sure why), and a voice generation system read out my name near the beginning of the call.
This smelled phishy before I even looked up the number here, and I was already 99% certain this was either a scam unrelated to Oxford/UHC, or it was a profoundly stupid marketing company (redundant?) that UHC had retained, and they were trying to get me to call back to establish a relationship that gets them past most telemarketing laws. In the unlikely event that they were actually calling with something important, they can just send me a letter in the mail, as they've always done.
At this point, I suspect a data breach, based on the use of my name. (My home phone number is unlisted.)
I just added the 678 number to my call block list, so they won't be bothering us again.- Caller: United Health Care / Oxford
- Noelle| 2 repliesI have UHC, but didn't answer this call since I didn't recognize the number. I'll call my actual insurance company and see if this is legit or a scam, since people are getting different results.
And hopefully people will be more sensible than DEBORAH CHASTAIN,above, who posted her phone number with a request to be removed from the call list, which i have seen here several times. Way to go Deborah. Now people can easily figure out where you live and no wonder you're receiving unwanted scam calls. You give out your phone number to the whole internet. - GAThis is a call from UHC for Coordination of Benefits, which allows them to determine if you have any other insurance that may pay for part of a claim. If you don't want to call them back, you can login to your account at myuhc.com, go to Account Settings > My Account Settings > Coordination of Benefits and confirm your benefits there. I'm not an employee, just a customer who figured this out after they called me just now.

- ... replies to Noelle| 1 replyThere's no need to be rude - perhaps she is not someone who is very technologically savvy. I have flagged her post so it will be removed.
- guru replies to ...Her post was from 16 Jul 2014
I think that any damage would already be done.
The person you are replying to is probably a troll, why else would they flame a post from 16 Jul 2014. - NoelleI'm not a troll and I "flamed" that old post in a "rude" manner as a warning to future readers to not make the same mistake as Deborah and hopefully wake these people up to the fact that posting your phone number publicly is extremely dangerous. I often see people here and on whocallsme who think these two sites are the official places to request to be removed from telemarketer lists. They say "don't call me" and then give out their phone number.
BTW this number is United Healthcare. I called and confirmed with them. They just needed to know if I had a secondary insurer.- Caller: United Healthcare
- NoelleAnd they've called me yet again. I answered because I knew it was UHC. The automated voice thing only asked to confirm my name, it didn't want any private info. I had already called them directly days ago and answered this question live, with their representative, Tamara, who said she updated the info in the system and I wouldn't be receiving any further calls like this.

- annjut called my cell, I don't accept unknown numbers, so sent it to vm, a 2 min vm with nothing on it? blank? But seeing the other posts, I have had no health care for years due to the economy so has to be a fraud, they could get it from hospital or doctors selling #'s, yes it's illegal but many companies do it for money, the DMV used to sell numbers and info years ago until it became illegal. I worked in fraud investigations for mortgage loan company, never ever give out info even to your legitimate company. Real employees of real companies still commit fraud. As example we helped inight 2 of our own employees at a local branch office, along with paid employess making fake bank statements at 2 prominent national banks. Fraudsters of high magnitude have no ethics. Your own company would not ask you this type of info, as for example my phone cell service, asks for last 4 digits because "employees" are not allowed to see the whole thing or that's all they are allowed to ask to verify. Otherwise there are other ways. But think about it, if you do have an account or contract with health care service or anyone else, they already have that info, no need to update. You update addresses, people don't go around changing their own birth date or social number right? just think logically and you know to hang up. but we always told people to reportt, Mortgage companies and websites can't "arrest" only police or FBI. I have reported many cases personally to the FBI and others. report, report, report. not just here. every FBI office and governemtn sites has a place to report phone fraud, identity theft, or on-goiing callers like this one asking for social #'s, they do track them, they do look at ones with most hits, it does work. But also protect your information in paper format, still the most used place for fraud and identity theft over computerized records. Unlocked mail boxes, papers in trash, even just a name and address on a back of a magazine is enoug to start a composite identity theft. They will use somoene elses pictures, work etc. Most high-end identity theft is is a new composite person made up of several identities.

- Smarter than a scammerSCAM! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!
My husband received a call from this number- it was an automated message saying they were with United Healthcare Coordination of Benefits. Seems legit since we have UHC, however I had a bad feeling about it so I googled both numbers- the number that called him (678-421-4908), as well as the number that was left in the voicemail (1-877-828-5743). Saw information about these numbers being used in a medicare phishing scam, so I called UHC directly. The representative I spoke with did say that UHC does have an automated system that makes these types of calls HOWEVER our coordination of benefits was completed back in December, so to disregard the call. He also had me give him both phone numbers so he could call just to verify, and he said to disregard the calls from those numbers. So that tells me that it was indeed a scam.
The UHC representative i spoke with also said that if you do receive an automated call its always best to just take the call as informing you that you should call UHC, so if you get an automated call just hang up and call UHC directly just to be safe since there are A LOT of scams and scammers out there these days!!!- Caller: Sam posing as UHC

- Bruce C replies to Sammie UHC| 1 replyYeah, and YOU my friend are part of the scam.
- PC| 1 replyI also received an automated call asking me to call 877-828-5743, and they gave me an 8 digit PIN to enter. The reason for this is so that they DO NOT have to ask for personal info such as SSN or DOB. This 8-digit number identifies you as the person they're trying to reach without having divulge personal info. So, if they call you and ask for SSN and DOB, just hang up the phone! I called UHC by calling the number on the back of my insurance card and the representative told me that the number was their coordination of benefits department just calling to check if I had additional forms of insurance. She said she would update my info directly, and I could disregard the phone calls. I have not received another one since then. So, I guess the number is legit, HOWEVER, I think the number is also being used by a phishing scam (you know it is possible to spoof numbers.. there is a computer program that can trick your caller ID into displaying any phone number that is entered into the program). The other comments say that they there was a live operator asking for SSN and DOB, but I was never asked for that personal info. The UHC rep told me that they would NEVER ask for that personal info over the phone, unless YOU call THEM. That is why they give you the 8-digit PIN to enter instead of entering your personal info. So, if someone is calling you and asking to call that number and give them your SSN and DOB, that is a scam!
