after answering machine picked-up caller started calling my 1st name and asking if I was there, as if they knew me and when I didn't answer they slammed the phone down...

I've been geeting a number of calls from this number, which I did not recognize, so ignored. Finally was tired of being annoyed by these unwanted calls.  Caller never left a message. When I did pick up, the male caller started using my first name and telling me how the GA American Legion is trying to help all these wounded veterans returning from overseas (and their families) and the Legion is hoping I'd be willing to help. I cut in, intending to tell the guy I've been part of a weekly anti-war demonstration for close to 6 months now, but I only got as far as "I've been doing all I can" when he abruptly hung up. Very RUDE, which is why I consider this a telemarketing call rather than a non-profit.  Whether legit or shady, all this jerk wanted was money.

My telephone number is on the DO NOT CALL listing, but that doesn't STOP these folks from calling.  The last 2 times I picked up the phone, I got "dead air" from  this company.

When I answered there was dead air so I knew that there was a computer making the call before the other person on the other end would pick up. So before they could say anything I hung up.

I've told these fellows to take me off their list, but continue calling with their solicitations.  They should somehow be stopped.

received call asking for donation for "supporting our troops". I informed caller that I was unemployed and couldn't make a donation at this time. He said I could use a credit card or mail them a check if that was more suitable. Then he transfered me to some other guy who said "just send us your money order or check" and hung up the phone. They will be getting no money from me!

They call all of our phone lines (4) within a 5 minute period. No one ever answers it just goes dead. The one time it has they ask for my boss by his first name and I start asking questions and they hang up.
very useless company....why does our government support these telemarketing schemes.

Got nothing but static

I have been getting numerous calls from this number, even on saturday week-ends. When I call the number back from my caller ID all I get is static. No message is ever left on the answering machine.

I've not answered any of these calls, but they have called me repeatedly various hours of the day and night.  I am so tired of these calls.  BUT if you all are correct and they are posing as a charity/or collecting for one.  They are exempt from the donotcall.  Charities can still call and a few other types, which I forget what ones.
