Same here and can't find out who? Anyone know

This person calls me everyday...now it is a different number...they say someone will be out to serve me with papers..I told them to stop scamming me...they call my cell phone and leave messages.....what can I do to make them stop...I blocked 2026974473 and now they have another number with the same BS....

This is a collection agency that probably bought your name and contact information from some old loan company that you used in the past (payday loan companies are a great example).  They buy old debts for pennies on the dollar and then try to scam people by threatening them with legal action.  They make up a "case number" to try and scare people who don't know their rights when it comes to collections.  Just ignore them...nobody is going to serve you with any papers.  Don't answer their calls and they will give up in a week or two.  Blocking their calls usually doesn't work because they spoof phone numbers and change them constantly.  If you do talk to them, just tell them that your phone call is being recorded and tell them that you want copies of all paperwork regarding the debt to be sent to you via postal mail.  I can pretty much guarantee you that they will make up some kind of story about not being required to send  you paper copies (which they are) or some other tactic to try and get you to pay them right away.

Had a call this morning claiming they had been trying to serve me legal documents and were unsuccessful. When I started asking questions like what address were they trying they would not answer and only said call this number and give the this case number. I told them it was a scam and hung up. Tried to call number back and nobody answers.

I also got a call this morning, they left a message saying there was fraud with my social security number. I tried to call them back and no answer.

Received a call from this # on Thursday July 2 Kelly from civil procedures division regarding legal document scheduled to be delivered between 9 and 4 on Monday  Will I be available to receive the documents on Monday I was home all day and none showed up SCAMMERS NOT FALLING FOR BS

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.  Now why would a “process server” want to do you, a stranger, a favor, and at the same time not get paid to deliver the papers?

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

they   have been calling me  to   gonna  serve legal documents   at my home my job .  I said  bring it on  my attorney  is  waiting..   cause  something big   coming  your way   they hung  up   oh   person name  is Janice  not  you people   I hit  a nerve  lol

Call this morning from this number threatening to serve papers.  It seems that every time I block one scam number, they come up with another.  When I call back, it goes to an answering service.  I'm tired of this.

I also receive calls from numbers claiming to be Metro Recovery Services (No idea what that is about) and Resource Management Group.  When I return the calls it goes to an answering service.

They wanted to speak to *NAME* . I asked them what this was about. They would not proceeded unless they could speak to *NAME*. I told them they could speak to *NAME* if they told me what it was about. She continued to ask for *NAME* and I continued to ask what it was about. Eventually she gave up and said have a great day. I've dealt with legit debit collectors that are nice, courteous and are willing to work with you. The good ones will state what its about and try to work with you. Don't ever give out any information unless you can verify who they are and if they own the debt.

I had this happen yesterday and today. Yesterday they called me from an “Unknown” number so I sent it to voicemail. The woman had a thick accent and said there was a claim against me and to call them back, and gave me a case number. The number they gave was 888-963-2427. I suspected a scam but called them back and they answered with “Corporate Offices, how can I direct your call?” and I hung up. Later in the evening a facebook friend (with the same last name as me but unrelated) messaged me that they called him asking about my whereabouts and that they had important legal docs for me, and they knew my birthday and SSN. My friend played dumb and didn’t confirm any info. This makes me so mad! This morning they called and I just let them talk. Woman says that they have legal papers to serve me and will be by between 1-4 today and wanted to be sure I would be there. I said “I know this is a scam, and you are violating FDCPA and I will report you” and she said “No I’m not” and I hung up. She called back immediately and I answered with a string of profanity and she hung up. I have good credit and have been cleaning it up the last year to get rid of old things, so I have no idea what they could even think this is for. My guess is they either bought an ancient debt from someone and are trying to collect, but it has to be close to ten years old at this point. Or it’s entirely made up. It’s really frustrating that this is happening in this day and age…how did they get my facebook friend’s number? It’s not on his profile. It’s creepy and I hate them for it. Ugh.
