Just got the same 701 call.  For this and many other calls (especially the politcal ones) caller ID is worth every penny.

11/17/2010  Received a call from this number - guy wanting to install a GE security system at our home for FREE (ya right!) if we allow a little sign to be placed on our yard.  Wouldn't take a polite sorry not interested.  Kept asking if we owned our own home.  He called back an hour later.

Persistent and annoying...trying to find out about my home security system. When I stated we are happy with our present security system he yelled, " well, if you don't have a contract and only pay month to month - my services are better" We are on the do not call list. Want to report them. Beware of caller ID:  'HOMESECURITYGP' We may take our gun out of lock up and load...something about this male caller was NOT right!

Received call from Light Shield Home Security. 701.264.5658. I'm on the federal DNC list. Didn't stop these fools. Reported to authorities.

Odd thing I'm also getting unwanted text messages regarding all kind of things and think this should be part of the DNC list. Not sure why this hasn't been integrated into a DNT. "Do Not Text" messaging system.

Perhaps calling them from every automated fax system available will stop them from calling people on the DNC list.

I'm sure it's someone trying to make an honest living but if you're on the DNC list... they should comply with the federal law. Furthermore, the law should be enforced.

So is the DNC list like some sort of vapor enforcement? You put your name on the list and you still get called... you report that they've been calling you and they will still call you or others. What the... ???

    REPORT THEM:  http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

I received several calls over the past few weeks: one was an empty voice mail message, one I hung-up on after several seconds of dead-air, and several were "missed calls" I did not answer. Today I answered it and inadvertently waited about 15 seconds because I couldnt find my bluetooth, this gave them time to actually speak:

Caller goes: "Hey Chris how are you doing today?" Then "this is Ben from Home Security Group".

For those who are wondering why they have empty voice mails and it seems like a prank call where they never speak when you answer: this is probably because they are using cheapo mass-calling technology that cannot detect a voice mail system and it taking too long to route the call with audio to "Ben" or "Jeff" to be able to hear you. If you were to wait a long time (what seems like forever) they do finally pickup. Its either the cheapo technology or there are a LOT of people in this call center all claiming to be Ben or Jeff, and thus you answer before a telemarketer is actually available to be routed the call to.

I believe there are several ********* violations of the Federal Trade Commission Telemarketer Sales Rule *********** here to me and others below.

For a quick overview about the FTC TSR, you can check this page at the DoNotCall.gov site: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel13.shtm

Also, there is an interesting research of who the actual company is making these calls. I cannot warrant this is true, but it appears from the following link that this company has a history of this crap, and is also testing out a new computer-automated-telemarketing tool.  Check out the real address and phone number of "Ben from Home Security Group" here at: http://ohiowhatever.com/telemarketers/Home-Security-Group/

    It states (copy\pasted):
Call Assistants address is the same as One to One. Ben, Jeff, Home Security Group, 877-897-1993. Owner: Jody. Home Security Group PO Box 172 American Fork, Utah 84003 He refused to provide Home Security Groups policy for maintaining a do-not-call list unless he received the demand in writing.

Want to get really paranoid?  I got a call from this number shortly after responding to an advertisement soliciting for a full-time babysitter.  That ad was offering an amazing, huge salary.  I very rarely get calls I do not want or invite.

The babysitter job ad I responded to used wording similar to "please just watch our babies."   That was a few months ago.  May be tied together, may not.  Coincidence?

I got suspicious after the phone call and Googled the exact ad wording.  It came up in numerous locations around the country, west coast, east coast, south.  That made no sense and I got really curious.

It occurred to me that the people who ran the ad were accumulating information on women for a purpose.  The way the ad read, they were looking to single out and identify unencumbered women.  They had the information those women emailed in response to the job ad and their phone numbers.  The women had no idea as to whom they were responding-just a blind email address.

Several here have confirmed the caller is trying to schedule appointments to meet in their home for home security.  I just wonder if anyone has become a victim of a crime.

Let's look at the big picture.  If the job ad is related to the caller, he has your name, phone number and home address from your resume.  He has information you furnished in the job ad response, knows some of your personal business, work history, knows who may be single, unencumbered, home alone, and he is calling to get into your home with you.  Does this call to mind potential for concern?

Feel free to call me paranoid.  Be careful responding to job ads that make you respond to a blind email address.  Get a PO Box to use on your resume, because they are cheap.  Stay safe.

just got a new phone, already called twice,,,,I think these are robo calls to find valid phone numbers to sell to marketers,,,,, remember with law changes you now have to add "cell phone" numbers to the do not call list, which take a number, more than just a few to become active.
