- MetalBlatant credit card theft operation.
It started with an automated message telling me my credit card rate could be lowered to 6%. Fascinated by this attractive rate, I pressed "1" to talk to a live operator. In my case, it was a person with a thick indian accent, who politely explained he was with "Visa Mastercard", that after the interest rate was lowered to 6%, everything would otherwise stay the same, including my current "Chase Visa" card number. He repeated Chase a few times, presumably to give me the chance to correct him. I didn't.
He then proceeded to ask me to "verify" my credit card expiration date. I helpfully gave him a month and a year. Next, he asked me to "verify" the last 12 (twelve) digits of my credit card. I couldn't really keep a straight face at that point, so I thanked him for his effort and hung up.
I then started writing this review, when I received a call from 310-388-6861. Lo and behold, it was my good friend the thick-accented credit card phishing phone operator! He asked me why I hung up, sounding hurt. I explained to him that he was attempting to steal my credit card information. He then explained to me at length that the information he was asking for was completely insufficient to do ay damage (pro-tip: it's more than sufficient), and that it was a completely legitimate offer to lower my rate on my existing credit card.
I then asked him what my name was. At that point our call was disconnected. How strange.
This is very likely to be a criminal operation.- Caller: Unknown

- Kitty replies to curt gunninkI also hit reply 2 and was sent to a man named Ron, when I asked to be put on DNC list he said "good luck with that you [***]"then hung up, when I tried to call it back its just a recording that hangs up on you. I've been trying to get my # removed from this calling list for over a month and still this # keeps calling me
- AlFYI,
1) Don't even pick up the call ----- you are not obligated to talk to anyone on unknown phone numbers . Surely you don't open unknown e-mail addresses, do you?
2) Just think of these calls as if they were being made by inmates at a prison. If the caller is not
an inmate, then perhaps they should be
3) if it's important enough your unknown caller should leave a message
4) if you happen to answer the call and the caller is a telemarketer, or is rude or pushy just say "hang on a minute" ( don't even wait for a polite opening ), put the phone down, and later, hang up when you hear the dial tone.
TIME is the most valuable asset to telemarketers so the longer you keep them on line the more likely you will be removed from the contact list. DON'T TALK TO THEM !!! It works for me !!
Am now able to blacklist phone numbers on our Ooma system and set the system to continuously ring. See Ooma.com Blacklisting also available on Verizon- Caller: unknown
- NonFictionI got this call, caller ID reports Credit Services. Robot saying something like, "This is an urgent call from Credit Services. Please press one to speak with an advisor regarding the status of your credit card account."
Pressed one knowing it was a scam or marketing of some type, to try to find out who's willing to violate the do not call registry. Talked to a guy, who also did not identify his company. I asked him the name of the company he works for, he said, "Visa and Mastercard Services."
I said, no, I really doubt that's the name of your company. He insisted it was. I asked why he was calling even though I'm on the Do Not Call list, and he said, "why did you press one, sir? Do you not wish to receive lower interest rates?" Smarmy bug. I told him I pressed it to find out who has so little regard for honorable business practices so I can take care to avoid doing any business with them in the future.
He hung up.
Reported to Do Not Call registry.- Caller: "Credit Services"

- judiegot a call from this number totally ignored it let the answering machine pick it up and they hung up thankfully.I filed a complaint with the do not call list ..I was told once by our state do not call that allot of these companies use disposable cell phones so it is hard to trace and levee fines.

- PellerinPlease do not call again.
- Peachesnever leaves a message. ooh yeah i never picks up.
- me too replies to curt gunninkSame thing happened to me. Missouri has a "No Call List" and companies are sued for violating those laws (so long as your residential number is registered on the No Call List). The gentleman that answered when I pressed #2 hung up on me when I told him "to remove my number from your list". He didn't confirm that he would so I filed a complaint with the AGO. This number calls our house all the time and I have no idea how they got our number.
- TX GalAn automated recording saying Hi this is Heather with Credit Card Services this call was in regards to my credit card, and even though there was no problem with my current balance, I should speak with someone immediately regarding my eligibility to receive lower interest rates on my credit card. I could receives rates as low as 6.9%. Press "1" to speak with a customer service representative. This is my final call about lowering my interest rates. SCAM!

- VaquitaWe continually get calls from these random cell numbers, which like other posts don't leave a msg or leave an automated msg re: your credit cards. We, too. are on the Do Not Call Registry which has decreased the amount of calls rcvd. It is sad that while we live in the greatest country in the world, individuals near and far, who are deplorable, dishonest, dispicable, lower than snail slime can continue to harass and steal from us without consequence. What has happened to morality and values and the Golden Rule of treat others as you would want to be treated? If you are the sorry excuse of an individual making these calls...NEVER call again and ask yourself if you would want someone calling you at all hours of the day trying to scam you. Did you ever think about the person on the other end who is infirmed or dealing with personal loss or tragedy? I'm that person and every time you call you delay my ability to heal because you are inconsiderate and trying to rob me of the little I have left in my life. I will pray for you.

- ddddJust got a call from these idiots. I've had them call before and I usually just hang up. Today I decided to press 1 just to waste a little of their time. When the live operator came on he asked me if I pressed 1 to lower my interest rates. I told him that I did. He listed about 4 card companies that he was working with and asked me which one I wanted to start with! I told him that I didn't have accounts with any of those card issuers. He got pissed off and asked me why I didn't tell him that from the start and told me I should just press 2 next time. I told him that I would press any buttons that I feet like when I get unsolicited calls. I guess he didn't like that because he hung up on me.
- Elling MelleThe scam call was received to my T-Mobile phone about 16:15 EDT on 07/11.2011. After hearing the BS claim re lowered interest, I just terminated the call.

- FL. galI, too, got a call from this number earlier today. I talked to "Robin", a supervisor?? He told me I could lower my interest rate on my Visa card but he needed some information first. When I refused he said "enjoy your interest rate" and hung up on me. This is not the first call I've received. Normally I let the answering machine do the work but this time I decided to answer. Since he didn't get any information maybe I won't get any more calls???? One can certainly hope. BTW I have been on the DO NOT CALL for years.
