A John Bennington left a message allegedly on behalf of the FTC – the "Federal Trades Commissions" claiming my dad had won $3.8 million dollars in the US Mega Millions and that the FTC was holding a certified cashiers cheque for $2.8 million and a brand new car.  This was the phone number he left.

I sincerely doubt this is the.sort of thing the real FTC would do.  I should think they would want to establish a papertrail via snail mail at the very least.  Next, dad is deceased so it would have been impossible for him to have entered the Mega Millions in the past two and a half years.  (To add insult to injury, Bennington somehow managed to mangle dad's name.)  Bennington apparently noticed the million dollar discrepency between the initial statement of winnings and the amount the certified cheque is for as he momentarily stumbled but otherwise continued as normal when he stated the latter.  He had a bit of an accent but, except for mangling dad's name, spoke excellent English.

I did not bother to return the call.

The FTC  phone number s 877-382-4357 so this is another scam. to report.so the scammers can use another number in their phone bank.
Do google FTA and file a complaint...desperate times people do desperate things..

Got call today from John Bennington supposedly with the ftc also for a mega millions. I really wish they weren't fake but they all are.
