This number continually calls my phone, doesn't identify, but does sometimes leave a message for a persons I've never heard of (yes, more than one name). Haven't these telemarketers ever heard of the do not call list!!!? The caller ID displays the phone number with "unknown" as the name.

Tmhey call me several times. I couldn't set up payment at that point. So a couple months later they had papers served through our local sheriff's office. I was very embarassed but it was a debt that needed paid.only $800 but a debt no less. I have just finished paying it back in biweekly payments. So beware they will file civil suit.

    >> they had papers served through our local sheriff's office. <<

If that is true, you should be able to give us the information at the top of the summons, since it is now "public information".

Give us the court name and location,  the name of the judge, the plaintiff's attorney's name and Bar number, and the name of the company or person that is suing you, the date you are supposed to appear, and possibly a docket number.

Can you do that, to prove your statement?

I betcha you can't.  You didn't even give the physical and web address of the company that uses this phone number, so we could check their validity.

Do not bother to return and argue these points, unless you can provide the data I requested.

Looks like "Amy" isn't making her/his theft quota for the month and has decided to come on here to try to lend validity to their extortion scheme.  Of course just like all ignorant shill debt collectors it's intelligence is so low that it fails to realize the futility in that attempt.

    Aylagh MacAnnadh, M.D.
First off, I learned it is illegal for a bill collector to call on a cell phone.  Second of all there is an interesting number of things these collectors can and can not do and the first is discuss ANYTHING  prior to establishing the identity of the person they are talking to.
Why do I know what I'm going to share.  I started getting calls about a year and a half ago & at first couldn't believe what I was hearing.  I made the mistake of confirming my identity (only gave them my date of birth, not my address, phone or anything else along those lines) I learned they were calling over what they claim was a $300.00 Student Loan Balance which dated back to 1980.  They were now trying to collect $1,700.00 claiming interest etc.,.  These people are just money grubbing slugs!  First of all I didn't graduate from med school until 1984 and it was 1985 before I was responsible to start paying back anything on my loans.  I had paid back almost all of it by 1987 & when I announced to my family I was getting married it was my parents wedding gift to me to pay off the rest of my loans so I could take the time to start a family with my new husband.  That gift was $30,000.00.  Why would my father write a cheque for $300.00 less than the full balance? This was ridiculous to begin with.  Second, I had never been contacted before by ANYONE saying I owed anything on student loans.  Up until February of this year (2014) when my mother passed-away my contact information remained the same as it did when I first started college back in the late 1970's!  My parents had had the same phone number and address since 1967 & I lived there until September of 1987 and was living three blocks away until 1996 when my husband and I bought our first home in NJ.  In all this time there had been no attempts to contact me from either the original lender, the school or any collections.  No one had tried to attach my income tax cheque or my income.  There was no black mark on my credit for not paying a student loan.  Due to the age of the loan and the payment I had no way to prove it had been paid.  I know it is important to keep cheque receipts and I was in possession of my fathers records which went back 20 years.  Not far enough.  My mother didn't keep any kind of records after my fathers death and was not the best for anything like that and my brother was second on all her accounts up until her death last February.
These low life said they had to have proof of payment or I still owed the money.  This was a DEBT THEY CONCOCTED!  How can they possibly think they can come after someone almost 35 years later and claim they are a low life for not paying the loan the government guaranteed and now the tax payers have to pay because I welched on the loan.  I did not such thing and I've no idea how to get them to stop bothering me.  There has got to be some statute of limitations on this kind of thing.  Why wait 35 years to even attempt contact?
Well, they have started calling me again.  They told me they were calling about an important legal issue and couldn't discuss it without my verifying my identity.  Well, I asked them to identify themselves which they did but wanted to know my date of birth, social number, address etc., and I told them no.  They read off the address though until whomever was where with the caller (trainer, supervisor?) said I had to ID myself or they couldn't talk further.  I told them they had the wrong address and that I wouldn't discuss anything over the phone and offered my new address but get this,  they wouldn't take it even though I was willing to give it to them when I told them I wouldn't deal with them over the phone.  They wouldn't take it so I told them not to call me again because they were calling me on my cell which is illegal and they haven't called since.  Knowing these sleezy people I doubt this is the end of it but I am not paying them a red cent!
Remember you have rights when it  comes to debt collectors and even those who act like they've found themselves a legitimate profession (there are a couple of jokers on here who make that claim) are either ignorant, morons or suffering from a nasty case of grandiose thinking!  They are nothing but bottom of the barrel slime feeders and will never be professional anything.  Fear and intimidation are not job skills!
    God Bless All,
    Maegi

This phone number calls almost every day, sometimes more than once a day and sometimes a message is left, asking for someone I don't know.  I don't know who they are or what they want but I ready to make a police report.

It is not a telemarketer.  It is a collection agency. Therefore the do not call list does not apply.  If you don't owe any debt then you should just answer or call them and let them know they have the wrong number.
