called about megabucks sweepstake also called from 876-864-2574 and wanted me to call 1-876-297-0185

Got identical call today(8/13/09) with the exact same two numbers in connection.   After doing a little reseach, I found that both numbers are cell numbers, but was not able to find out who they belonged to. Google search on Megabucks Sweepstakes informed me that it is probably a scam to get your money

Called and said I could get a lower interest rate on my Credit Card.  The guy said I owed over $4000 on my credit card and wanted to cofirm the details.  I asked what Corperation he was representing so I know what credit he was reffering to.  First he said Visa. Then he said "Account Services International.  I asked for the phone number and he gave me 1-800-446-8277 which I found out was a phone sex number.

The guy wanted me to confirm my account details which I declined...so probably it is a scam to get my personal info.

Go to the FTC Do Not Call Complaint page (https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2) and file a complaint.

I also got this call saying, "I'd been selected for a lower interest rate" Calling back the number got an answering machine saying I could request being on their do not call registry. Seems like a scam.

This number for some reason keeps calling my house.  Random Caller would not leave a message. I'm on the do not call list and I'm unlisted so I'm not to sure how they got my number.

Got a call from  1-702-705-5060. They left no message!  I tried to search for the number on white pages....says it is unavailable....Do not want calls from this #.

Received a call from 702-705-5060 this evening.  I did not answer it.  No voice mail message.  Received several calls from this number last year for about 3 weeks 2 to 3 times per week.  Then it goes away.  Filed complaint for whatever that does.

Called, did not answer, getting calls from this number for over 6 months, at least two per week.

Your number being unlisted, will never keep it safe from telemarketers who do not follow the law. A "random" dialer will hit every number in every area code. If the telemarketers do not purchase the do not call list and enter the list in their dialer you and everyone who took the time to place your number on the do not call list are shite out of luck.

That is because very very few people bother to file a complaint against them. Why did you come to this website? To share your story with a bunch of other people who had the same company violate federal laws by calling them as well? Why didn't you go to the National Do Not Call list website and file a complaint? I have 12 letters I have received from the FCC for complaints I have lodged against telemarketing firms, if everyone would file complaints instead of jumping on google and typing in the phone number these companies would be out of business and unable to continue breaking the law. The way it works now it takes months for enough people to file complaints to even warrant the FCC look into it. Instead if every person who was called took the time to file a complaint they would be investigated within a week and shut down. A few times of this and they will find some other career as this get extremely expensive to keep on moving around the country.

A long recorded message which was difficult to understand. I let the machine pick it up.  I think it had something to do with a credit card.

I kept getting calls from this and other numbers none stop. They wanted to lower my credit card rate. I would come home and see at 3 unwanted calls a day. I became hostile with one of the jerks that called and he told me he would be right over. He already had my address as he called out to me and threatened my wife. He stated that they were watching and waiting. He said they knew when I was at home and that I would have a surprise soon when I got home. One week later, I arrived home to find my house completly empty and my security system disconnected. They took everything even clothes. The only thing left in the house was a $200.00 cordless phone. That night I got another call from the above number and when I answered(just said hello) the guy just laughed,then cussed at me and then hung up. Police said they could not trace the number. They told me that they had received several complaints about telemarketer criminals logging when people were home and this was happening alot more lately.

Hmm, I guess I'm one of the "smart ones".  I filed a complaint with www.donotcall.gov BEFORE I came to this site to post.  My mommy would be so proud.

Recieved call from this number several times past few days and just ignored....until this morning.  I was sitting outside on the patio just relaxing and passing time watching my grandkids play.  This number called and, assuming it was a telemarketer, decided to answer and 'waste' some of their time.  I bet I kept this dude on the phone for close to an hour.  He was trying to convince me he could get my interest rate on my Mastercard reduced.  He tried everything to get me to give him my account number and information but he just couldn't succeed.  When I would ask him if I was going to be charged a fee for this service, all he would say was "you will have no out-of-pocket expenses".  I even took the time to get a rep from my Chase account on 3-way with him (which took me a while since I actually laid the phone down and went inside to make myself a cup of coffee while he was on hold) before I finally had the 3 of us on the phone together.  Before I let him into the conversation the Chase rep, she said "Do not give him any of your information".   I just laughed and said "listen to this" and clicked him into the conversation.  He and I spent another 30 or more minutes going back and forth and he could never answer my question about the fee.  I would give him different ways that I could get better inerest rates on my debt, different options that I had now that the c. card rates have gone up, but he'd come back with the same ole 'mumbo-jumbo' that he was offering me a way to lower them and they would not go back up, etc.  I asked him several times to hang up and take me off his calling list, but he was persistant.  I had to put my hand over the receiver to keep him from hearing me laugh.  I really was making him work hard for his scam this morning with no monetary results for him.  When the kids were ready to go inside I decided it was time to end this game which was now going on for almost an hour.  Nothing I could throw at him would make his change his song and dance.  I even told him that I had used credit cards for years and had been able to not pay any interest except for just a very few times until the past few months.  HE JUST WOULD NOT SAY QUIT!!!  I even told him again to hang up and take me off his calling list and he'd come back with the same speel.  I even told him to 'SAY GOODBYE", but he still wouldn't shut up.  By this time I was getting bored so I just told him that I would probably just take money out of my safe and pay the card off in full now that I was having to pay interest.  He said "oh, you have enough money in your safe that you can pay your card off???" and I said "sure", but why would I use my cash when I was using credit cards without paying interest for so long....it was like free money....now I'll just get money out of my safe and pay it off".   He then just changed his voice and said "I, see.  You have money in your safe", and hung up.  Heck, I don't even own a safe, but I did get him to hang up, and I wasted a good part of his morning.  Now I am going to report this number, everytime it calls my house, to the FTC Do not call complaint department.  Starting now.  Say Bye...............
