- KBThis is a scam!! It was on our local news by an investigative reporter. "Get Gephardt" KUTV2 in Utah.
- Fed UpHad same experience as some listed here. When it shows "Alert" my first thought was the police calling with an alert. Then I noticed the 702 area code and realized it was just another creep trying to sell me something. I refuse to answer any calls when I don't recognize the caller's number.

- Dale MillerRobo caller said something like, "attention seniors". So I immediately hung up as robo calls are, I believe, illegal.

- John replies to Sam SThe medic alert for seniors scammer's only reason for calling us, is to get our credit card numbers, so they can cheat us!
- yefFor the umpteenth time Sherriem and I get called by the same scammers. My machine picked up a robocall message mid-stream at 7:55 pm today. Woman's voice rambling on about $3000 in coupons for seniors (which I am not), and then got to the medic alert part of the scam. Press 4 to be taken off of this opt in list. HA HA - opt IN? I never opted in to these scamming criminals!

- krken2000| 1 replyHow do I stopped these robo calls "attention seniors"?
thanks- Caller: ?
- Slim replies to krken2000Well, what options does one have to defend themselves against intrusive callers?
• The Do Not Call list (Federal or State)
Works, but is effective against ONLY "legitimate" telemarketers. Political callers, surveys and some other callers are exempt. Scammers ignore the DNC list.
• NoMoRobo
A system offered by some telephone providers, to help automatically block robocalls. Google "nomorobo" to see if it works with your phone provider.
• Shouting, screaming, swearing at the caller
Nope. Does not stop calls. May make you hoarse, and will disturb nearby people.
• Call blocker app, device or service
Could be a good choice (even though the scammers can use fake phone numbers), and some apps are free!
Google "call blocker" for more information, or check your favorite online sales site for a list.
http://gg.gg/blockers
Your phone provider may also offer blocking services. Check their web page for information.
If you cannot use any of the above defenses, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. - Vince replies to Ona SExactly what had been going on to me for A YEAR! They won't stop calling and they just hang up on you.
