Sooo out of curiosity i called this local number (big mistake) got a recording "this # can't be reached...please call the operator for assistance" un-quote: Have a feeling this was a trick by some scum bag collection agency.

got a call from this # again..it is some con company out of jean,NV saying they are with the police something something and would i like to make a donation..hell no..!!

These guys spent a while talking to my kid about our home and how we should donate money to cops.

How legit?  I dunno.

the guy was trying to be funny after he said who he was by saying "don't worry you are not in trouble or anything like that"...

oh and he said the call was being recorded...

Damn, they called again...Caller ID displayed (out of area)...send the SWAT team in & take out this scammer,  then these calls will cease.

Someone from this number called and asked for me by my first name, they were speaking with my kid and tried to get info from him.  Left no message.  Must be scam, scary.

Some guy saying he wanted to speak to my brother said

"This is the Jean County Sheriff department and I'm calling to inform (brother's name) that his name came up on our system. He is not in trouble or anything....blah blah blah.....this will only take 60 seconds of your time." They also say the call is being recorded and they will not let you speak for even a moment.

They keep calling our number and the caller ID says "jean". If they call you, simply hang up and register a complaint to the "do not call registry" website. Take these low life's out of Nevada!

If they call you ( as they did me ) register a complaint, they are not only a scam, they are also spoofing the caller ID, which is why when you call back you get the recording that the number can't be reached.

Read the other threads here on this. They get away (?) with this by donating a minuscule % (like 1-3%) of the take to a legitimate police organization (which don't cold call). Include pressure sales tactics like "you want us to find missing children, don't you?" in their spiel. Ask them to send information to you, they will claim they "can't afford to." Definitely a scam

I just received a call from this #. It really freaked me out, because I just opened my front door after coming home from Court for something stupid. But it still scared the hell out of me. The call went like this... Is Mr. So and so Home? My reply, Not right now, may I take a Message? His reply. No real message at all to leave, Thanks Craig.  
 WOW.. That blew my mind. I was looking all around outside for some under cover cops or something. hahahaha.  It seems like the Police would not like this at all. But they seem to be to lazy to do anything about it.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Nevada Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.nevadafop.org. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Nevada police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

They say they represent the police dept, wrong, they are looking for donations, police dept do not ask for donations over the phone, beware.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out you're actually the owner of that number - and I wouldn't put it past you since you've posted on several of the "who's calling me" websites trying to convince people it's OK to talk to these jerks!

If you're not the owner and you're "buying in" to this scam - STOP it... it's ignorant people who fall for these scams that keep these scammers in business!  Wise up!

Jean is a small collection of hotels at the nevada and california border.  30 miles from vegas.  it is in clark county.  this number and scam has been reported on by the local newspapers.  IT IS A SCAM.  the police do NOT do fund raising like this.

Just received a call for the "lady of the house." The script went pretty much like those already posted.

I do support law enforcement, but this was just wrong. Once he started asking me for information, I got very suspicious.

He said they also take donations on their website. I asked what the website was and he ended the call.

It's a scam, went to the web site, tried to email them, can't because their email address is a hoax.
