This caller is calling about a breast cancer fundraiser. I know I've been on breast cancer walks so I asked them if they could email me information about their Charity. She said she could not send any information unless I made a commitment of a $15 donation. I said I don't think so and you are a scam and hung up.

    Disabled Vet
CLAIMS to be "raising money for our nation's disabled Vets. My wife mistakenly gave these pogues a twenty-five dollar donation several years ago, and they ALWAYS ask for her by name.

And I always start screaming at them for being an organization that has 'overhead' costs of 98/99% of donations received.

Answered my cell and heard "Is this John".  "No" was all I said and a few seconds later I heard a click.
I've heard of a new scam in which they try to get you to say "Yes" and will then use your taped voice to "verify" your approval of a charge to your phone.  Beware.

    pissed in Texas
called at 9:20am on a Monday....no inclination to deal with this "unknown"...didn't know the number...clicked on to stop the ring and then off in the same breath...HA HA!  no Hello...no dialogue...have seen on the news where identity thieves can take bits of your voice, edit together and make fraudulent authorizations in your name.  ISIS just thinks they're pissed at infidels now...wait until everyone just on/off's them.....all the time....

They called me asking for donations to some disabled vets of America organization.  It sounded like a real person, but was evident it was not when they could not correctly process my answers.  They asked if they could mail me a packet and I said yes.  Then said they were running a promotion red, white, and blue, and for a red packet you could donate $X and for white it was some other amount and for blue it was only $20.  I said, sure.  They asked which packet.  I said blue.  They said, OK, can we 100% count on your support and you will send us the $20 once you receive your packet.  I began to explain that I always do research on any charitable organization before giving and that I would be happy to look into it and support the vets if I determined it was a reputable organization that would provide me with a tax deduction and I believed they were a good organization that helped people in a way that I deemed a wise investment for my money.  The robot then started saying something about well we're sorry you feel that way.  How about we send you our $15 packet, which is our absolute lowest.  I began explaining that I did not need a different packet based on some dollar amount they wanted me to commit to.  I said that I would be more than happy to make a larger contribution upon determining that this was an organization I was willing to support.  I am not going to commit to something without researching first.  They said we're sorry and we will try contacting you again during our tax refund promotion or something to that effect.
