- Florin NeacsuI have a home remodeling company and I received one day a text message from this number asking me if I can do an exterior paint job. He gave me address to inspect the house alone from outside the owner being out of town for cancer treatment. After I inspected the house I sent an estimate at jameskaiton27@gmail.com
He agrees with the estimate but he wants me to charge credit card. Since I do accept credit card, I agree. But he wants me to do him a favor. Since he's not in town, I should charge the credit card with the amount I asked for the entire job plus $4,750 for some commission he has to pay for closing. So I would charge my amount $5,500 + $4,750 on-line and after that send some percentage to someone for some fee he didn't pay.
I've tried calling back the number and the voicemail was for a Google number. He tried to call me from another number, but it was very hard to hear him clearly. Anyway, he didn't sound as a Kaiton James, but more as an indian guy (heavy indian accent).
I recognized the scam that used to be done with checks a while ago.
This is how I think it works:
They have a real credit card number (stolen from internet or somewhere else) that you charge for the job plus whatever they want you to charge extra. You send some money to them and then the person charged will file a complaint when they find out they've been charged for no reason. You have to pay the money back (plus you'd probably go through some investigation with police), but in the end you lose whatever you send to the scammers.- Caller: google number
- Call type: Text message
- AnnoyedSame type of experience here, but I'm glad I Googled the email address jameskaiton27@gmail.com because I found this entry. We're a small business and were asked for an estimate. As soon as the proposal was sent, the scammer texts that he needs a "favor" and tells the same BS story about the commission. He wanted us to charge him an extra $5250 on his card for the commission balance (so that the ex owner doesn't bother us once we start working), and once that cleared we would send the money to the ex owner. He also said that he's willing to give us $200 for our "errands and stress".
Immediately this was a red flag for me, because we're now somehow the intermediary between him and this ex owner handling their money like we're some sort of accountant, something that we have no business doing. So I Googled his email address and long and behold it's a scam. What a waste of time on our part giving this estimate.
Hope that everyone takes the same precaution and trusts their instincts, and do a search on this scumbag's email or phone # so that he doesn't get a dime from anyone.- Caller: jameskaiton27@gmail.com
- Johnny MacSame thing tonight, thank god i did a search on the email address he sent. Wants me to charge extra, wasted time for a while asking me for a quote on services.
- too busy for that craphe did it to me in Dallas, TX. He is getting numbers off of craigslist I presume.
- DWI got the same text. I knew it was a scam but I was bored and wanted to see if I could catch this cockroach fungus. He was very good at hiding eventually him not having specific verifiable info. I text him back with this;
I think I know what is needed to fix your problem. It's called a king sized ass kicking - HTHSame BS here. As soon as I told them no credit cards I didn't hear anything else. This is the second time they tried this with me. And yes they are pulling info from Angie's List, the 1st time they even said that they got my name off Angie's List. They pull properties that are for sell and vacant To get you to go look at for estimate. He used Kation Charles yesterday. I turned the 1st one into FBI internet scam division and never heard a word from the FBI

Here is the job
details, I just open a new Indian Restaurant which I run
now
and I need a website for my business to grow, So I need
you
to go through this example link site: http://www.indikausa.com but
i need something more perfect than this if possible, I
will
like you to get back to me with an estimate and the
estimate
should include hosting and I want you to understand I
want
the same page as the example site i gave you to check and
I
want only English language and I want you to know you
will
be updating the site for me. I want the site up and
running
before ending of next month and I don't want a
shopping
cart in my reservation page also I don't have a
domain
name yet and I will prefer: KAITINDRESTAURANT.COM,
My budget is $2000-5000 for the web design, I have a
private
project consultant, she has the text content and the
logos
for the site with the image artwork, so please go ahead
and
check the example site and get back to me with an
estimate
also will like to know if you are the owner or the
manager
and do you accept credit card as payment, what type of
credit card merchant machine do you use cos i am
currently
not in the state now am out on a business trip to india
and
I want it done before I return. Thank you
Previous Next - DougMy small graphic design company, which offers web design services, was just targeted by Kaiton Charles (referring to himself as Charles). He asked for an estimate, agreed to all terms without blinking an eye, but then when he asked for direct routing info to our bank or would only agree to use a company besides PayPal, we got suspicious (though the whole thing was strange from the beginning). Then I searched his name and found out it was a common scam. Glad we didn't go any further with this person. Be on the look out for anyone using that name or the email address kaitoncharles7@gmail.com.

- joI am from India,
Almost I was also got trapped into this. Actually I have my representative in US, and this fraud guy(Harry lewis) had sent a cheque for $4000 once (got bounced back from bank) and $5000 twice. He was asking my rep to send $1200 to the lady consultant towards logo designing charges.
Suddenly I had doubt and started probing and replied to his mail.
“Can I know your identity, and about the cheque which you have sent.
1) Instead of asking me to send money to the consultant you could have done it.
2) You could have sent money directly to me via PayPal or Western Union.”
Could you kindly clarify these queries?”
Then there is no reply - Viralipro replies to joseph gravagnaWow! So glad I googled the link this guys sent me - it brought me here.
