Got a call from this number and they left a voice mail.  Claims to a be calling in behalf of "the tax audit department of Internal Revenue Services" (note the 's' on Service).  Claims to be 'Officer King'.  Apparently there is a warrant and somebody in this household is going to get arrested for tax fraud.  Apparently I can call back and sort something out with Mr. King,  but since he didn't mention anybody's name in the phone message, even tho he left plenty of other info to scare a caller, I'll wait until my local Sheriff shows up with the warrant to take me in.  Other number reporting sites report this as a scam and the Caller ID said it was a Vienna, Va call.  Since there is a local IRS office 13 miles away from me, why would they call from Virginia?

Smells like a scammer to me.

Just got the same call, and I agree with the assessment. Trying to scare people. Be interesting to find out who this scammer is.

Just called them back 1st thing I said was may I have your name ? They said Charlie King.. So so I asked him several questions of where he was from it showing I told him it was showing from Virginia then I asked him about his operator number he said go f*** yourself and he kept saying f*** you f*** you f*** you to me every time I kept asking more questions so then when I told him I hope and I can't wait till he gets arrested but they pick him up and everything that in the whole time you kept saying f*** you f*** you so what I would suggest everybody that gets a phone call from this number to call the actual IRS at a number which I will be contacting them myself once I get the number I will put it on here for you all

Recieved same call 2-5-2014: Virginia 703-459-9941.  Recording by a man with accent stated they were IRS and I had been reported to the IRS for tax evation, since this is a federal offense a warrent for my arrest has been issued.  They stated twice the number to call to get further details about my case.   Which I didn't have time to write down and then it disconnected no repeat this message opportunity.    I Reported to IRS Fraud department in hopes they can catch the scam:   www.treasury.gov/figta/contact_report_Scam

703 549 9941 says regarding tax.

Officer king of the irs left message that there is tax fraud and taking action in fed court.  I did not respond as this is a scam

Just received same call threatening arrest for tax fraud. Officer King. Scam city!

this number 703-459-9941 is a TOTAL scam

WOW I just got the same call from officer King... kind of freaked me out as I have no debt and don't owe anyone... So I called he answered but I could not understand the company name, So I asked him the name of the company and he went nuts,... F___you..and on and on just cursing up a storm...I started telling him the same thing... it was kind of funny and then he finally ran out of curse words and hung up.... Wow what a total [***].... Anyway hope they catch him soon....

Just got a call from them as well said he was a officer from the IRS, lol. Did not call back. Where do I report this to? I tried that link and says invalid

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
