They called calming to be from the American Publishers Services, Inc. and that I had won a $1000 online shopping spree because I had a credit card.  If you accept this offer you will have to buy 40months or so of magazine subscriptions.  You also had to sign up for a 30 day trial to one of their other offers.  They wanted credit card information to pay for shipping charges.  Felt like a scam so I told them no thanks.

I experienced the same thing, only I was disturbed by the amount of information they already had on me. My phone showed that they called numerous times during the day for several days in a row and never once did they leave a message. They claimed I was a winner because of my good status as a major card holder.  I denied them and contacted my credit cards to make sure my information hadn't been stolen.
