Who are thesw people? They called distant family members and my mom claiming to be lawyer? Said to have me call they wanted a statement from me. As soon as i call i notice the number is from out of state. She told my mom she was in ,my county. I searched and searched for a buisness adress and nothing. Is this a scam? She claimed to be a SHELBY WRIGHT

So, they called me husband and myself saying something about needing a statement and that there were felony charges pending against me. I googled the name "United Legal Mediaition" that this Shelby Wright gave and it's nowhere to be found.  I've received phone calls like this before from other scammers.

I rec'd a call from the below company claiming to be an attorney's office and they wanted to take a statement because I am being accused of turning a check into cash for a payday loan. He called me a bad name and said the state of North Carolina would be prosecuting me and I live in Texas. Apparently the so called debt was from May of 2010. I told him I knew it was a scam and not to call me again at which point he threatened to have me arrested. His name he said was Jacob Goldstein

I've had the phone call. Dealing with district  attorney to verify .district attorney  said he is a fraud.

I recieved a call today from shelby wright and jacob golldstein. Saying I was going to face felony charges. They called my mom who lives in another state. And my cousin and uncle who i dint even talk too. Someone please put these horrible people in jail.

Shelby Wright keeps calling me, my daughter and my brother who lives in another state, freaking them out.

Please stop these ppl!!!

My in laws just called me. Shelby wright so she says is her name is harassing my in laws. Telling them I have check fraud and and going to jail. LiL nice try! Dumb ass. Not falling for it.

Called me saying I had 2 felony charges scared me to death crying...Shelby wright saying there fwd it to law enforcement... I don't appreciate it with a bad history 8 yes ago!!!!!

They are in North Carolina and say they operate in 36 states and 149 municiplaites. There is only a couple of lawyers on their staff but they have compliance officers and para legals who do the bulk of their calls.I paid my payday loan off. At first they said I was in trouble with debt because of fraud, when they explained it to me they said if paid they would not pursue this legally. I paid they sent me a letter says no further obligation.

Here is a list of all true Arbitration & Mediation organizations.  This is a scam.  Do not be fooled.  Anyone who threatens criminal charges is fraudulent.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

Really? You want to give us a name and address of this wonderful company?  There are a lot of people who'd like to stop by and have a sit down discussion with their  representatives.  Up close and personal you might say.

Jane called my parents and my sister and said the same thing to them about me. They just called yesterday and said I only had until 8:30 this morning to let them know what I was going to do about it or they would turn it over to lexington county south Carolina. I haven't lived there since 2008 and that's when this happen. They told my husband that they was having me brought into custody at 1 yesterday but they said that I have no prior record so their was no need for it. I have had 3 people talk to me. Jane Conner, Shelby Wriight and today Madison Graham.

This is not a scam. You have incurred the debt and they are just illegally collecting it. They actually own the debt so if you just tell them you will make an arrangement they will have to accept it. Don't think because they do it illegally that this invalidates your debt in any way.

Yes, it's a scam. If they refuse to send, by US Mail, proof of the debt, they are a scam. Do NOT make payment arrangements unless they send you proof by US Mail that you owe the debt. Just because someone on the phone tells you you owe a debt does not mean you do.
