I received this call at 8:10 this morning saying I would win a trip to the Bahamas if I took their survey. I answered 3 questions, and the recording said, you have won a trip to the Bahamas. Press 1 and you will be connected to the operator to get your name and address so we know where to mail your free tickets. When I pressed 1 the call was disconnected. I tried to call this number back and get a recording saying this number is no longer in service. I'm seriously thinking about canceling our land-line service because the phone rigs off the hook constantly with junk like this! I can't believe people are not prosecuted over junk like this!

When I dialed the number, it said that it was a Verizon number that has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service...

I didn't answer but called it back - it is Verizon but it is a disconnected number.. Ever since we switched to Verizon I get about 2-3 calls a day like this.  So of course I never answer.  Or I do just to get the computer dialer a chance to move on.

Got a call at 10:45 this AM.  No caller ID.   Since I didn't recognize the number, I didn't answer the phone, suspecting it's yet another telemarketer who doesn't respect the DoNotCall registry laws.  I keep hearing that the FTC just doesn't have the resources to enforce this effectively.  It's really annoying paying $60 a month for a landline that I hold onto just because it's tied into my home security system and otherwise really don't use.  Instead of blocking selected phone numbers, I wish the system were set up that only phone numbers I recognized and programmed into the phone somehow got through.

Free Bahamas cruise Scam.  Just pay the taxes and port fees.  They want your credit card number for the fees.  Yea Right.
I guess they keep making the calls because there are Idiots out there that fall for the scam and actually give them the credit card numbers.  There's a sucker born every minute.

Received a call from this number around 8:30 pm on 12-10-14 but I do not answer numbers I don't know. When there's no voice mail, I look it up...thank you Internet :)

Got a call from this number just before 9:30am today. Didn't answer because it started with the country code (1 in the US), while literally every other number I've been called by started with the area code. Based on that and the rest of the info in this thread, I think this is a spoofed number. That would explain why blocking this number doesn't stop the calls. I'll report this to Verizon and see what they can do, but I really don't expect much.

I cannot believe the volume of these types of calls I have been receiving the past few months - this has never happened before. I can't help but wonder what triggered this - or was I just "lucky" prior to this, and now my number is up (so to speak)? It is really insane!

Anyway, please make sure you do the following:
    1. Register your phone number(s) on the Do Not Call Registry.
    2. When you get these types of calls, immediately google the number. Do not press any numbers or call them back!
    3. If you find the number within a forum such as this, immediately go to the Do Not Call Registry (your phone number must be registered) and file a complaint (https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx). It will take less than a minute to file the complaint. The only "personal" information you are required to enter is the phone number (which you previously registered) at which the call came in.

And yes, of course, good, honest people now have to go to the trouble of doing this while the scammers just keep coming up with more schemes. But please do this - it cannot hurt and it certainly can help.
