This is absolutely real. It's Wells Fargo Fraud prevention.

I got a call this morning and they asked me if I made 3 purchases, 2 online and one in store. Had the dollar amounts and the stores. And when I made a purchase on walmart.com, they notified me that visa and walmart would process this through a protection.  Got the call 20 minutes after the Walmart purchase so it is legit. Stop fear mongoring. If you don't believe them, then just don't answer or hang up but then call WF directly and they will eventually transfer you to the fraud department anyway.

This is a legit Wells Fargo number (Fraud alert dept) Called because I had several charges on my Debit card that I did not make. I was actually on the website at the time and verified the transactions she referred to. Cancelled the card, and ordered a new one to be sent.

This is a legit call from Wells Fargo. For me it was from their fraud department but it sounds like this is just a general outgoing line for any of their departments.

How about I don't pick up the phone for every scammer calling me?  I don't do business with Wachovia...no reason for them to call me.

Got a call from this number and answered. They said it was Wells Fargo about a purchase and whether it was me. Sounded questionable based on the other posts here. I just ended the call politely and called Wells Fargo myself. The call was legit. They were worried about fraud and trying to protect my card.

Same here, someone got my card numbers and were buying stuff. Wells Fargo suspected fraud and contacted me to ask if I still have my card. They suspended my card and re-issued a new one. They also took the fraud charges off my account. It is a legit call and I am glad I answered.

This was a caller from Wells Fargo fraud department. It was legitimate. I called Wells Fargo back on their 800 number to verify and they confirmed that someone had called me and they were even able to verify the content of the conversation.

The message stated that there was fraudulent activity on my debit card.  The message stated that I could call back the number they gave or the number on the card.  I chose to call the number on the card and yes, there was fraudulant activity on my debit card. . .   Bottom line, this number is legit.

I got a voicemail from this number. They said, "Hello. This is Wells Fargo Fraud Department calling to verify recent activity on your credit card ending in [XXXX]. Please return our call at 877-515-5750. You can also call the number on the back of your card and request to be transferred to fraud prevention."  So I called the customer service number on my card and asked for the fraud department. It turned out that there was an attempted charge to my card for $605 at Victoria's Secret. Wells Fargo had recognized the signs of fraud and denied the charge. I said yes, it was a bogus charge, and thanked them for catching it. They killed that card and are sending me another. I don't know why the two posters on here (or one poster with two names) find it so important to insist the number is false--over and over again--but it certainly is legitimate. Just call Wells Fargo customer service and ask for the fraud department.

    WF Customer
I've been a CoreStates/First Union/Wachovia/Wells Farg customer for over 25 years. I used to get calls from this number whenever I was driving very long distances on vacation or making large purchases in rapid succession around Christmastime. They have unlocked my card for me in the past once I confirmed purchases.

For the people reporting they don't have a card with them, I strongly suggest that you check for identity theft. Someone may have opened a card in your name. Just because you didn't open a card doesn't mean it's impossible there's a card out there based on your name and identity. Take this seriously.

I only chose "Event Reminder" below because the "Event" was suspicious activity on my card.
