I guess I had filled out a ballot at a bridal show I went to earlier in the year.
Called to tell me I was chosen for a free stay at their resort up in Collingwood. Said all you have to do is tell your family and friends about your stay in an effort to help promote their resort. If you don't make +$75K annually they then tell you you don't qualify for the offer.

I filled out a ballot at the Wine and Cheese show a few months ago.  They called claiming I won a 3 day/2 night stay (sunday to thursday) or a 2 day/1 night stay (friday - saturday).  The catch was you had to give a refundable deposit of $59.  I smell a scam.

I filled out a ballot at the Annual Good Food Festival.  I don't usually put my personal number down, but a work # or something.  Oh, how I regret putting my cell # down now!

I was also told that I won a trip to Collingwood for 3 days/2 nights (if on the weekend or 3 nights if during the week.  I too was told that I would have to put down a refundable deposit of $59 to reserve my room.

I wanted more information, so I requested an email, which contained this:

Just received this call.  I actually accepted this promotion in the past and surprised they called back.  It's not really a scam, but a time share offer.   The deposit will be refunded and includes a $100 dinner voucher.  A pretty nice resort half completed with plans to renovate the connecting 60+ year old hotel.  They have a very nice mini (not a real course in the picture) golf course in front located near Blue Mountain, they're trying to sell time share units on the newly built complex and eventually the main building after renovations have been completed.

I expected the nicer rooms 5*, instead they sent us to the main floor units of the main older building 2*.  Not what I expected from the pictures and this included the 3 hour timeshare sales pitch committment.  When we said NO...they threatened us for being sleazy taking advantage of the free room and dinner voucher.  I was even more stunned when the sales staff threatened putting us on the Collingwood registry so all local timeshare operators would stay away from us.  Your deposit is refunded after the sales presentation/abuse is over, so we could not walk out.

Not a good experience, but not a scam.   I recommend avoiding as the pictures and information ARE NOT the rooms you receive as a trial to buy into their timeshares.

I completed a ballot last month at the Toronto Homeshow and since then constantly receive their calls.  So many times I told them to F**K Off on # separate occasions and they still call?  Same younger voice guy.  He seemed innocent, but still stupid to keep calling.

I hate the Georgian Manor and will never consider their offer.

Just wanted to point out that my "Official Claim Number" is exactly the same as the guy above..." 14521.  What a conididence :-p

stop calling me 10 times for the day, very annoying. i am not interested.

if your not interested just say no thanks they will stop calling

I got a call today on my cell phone but did not answer it because I did not recognize the number.  We stayed at the Georgian Manor about 5 months ago but they never had my cell phone number, only our home phone.  I rarely give out my number and only to frineds or business contacts.  I don't know how they got the number.

my # was the same 14521. funny.

Email sent to:  flo@friendshipfestival.com The person running the Fort Erie Friendship Festival.

I'm Emailing you just to let you know that I filled out a ballot at the Friendship Festival for a chance to win
A Harley Davidson motorcycle and since then I've been receiving call after call from everyone except the
Person(s) holding the draw for the motorcycle.  Mainly someone from Collingwood resort & Spas.

I realize that when you fill out a ballot you are taking the chance that your phone number is being sold to telemarketers however I'm pretty diligent about not filling out ballots at all, OR checking to see if the ballot itself says the sponsor of the ballot wont sell your number and trust that if they say they won't they actually wont.

I just got rid of my land line for the first time in my life 100% because all I ever got was 1-800 numbers and telemarketers calling it. Now this company has my cell number and I'm very annoyed about it. Especially when I politely asked the caller from collingwood resort to remove my number from their list and stop calling me and HE had the NERVE to call ME Rude before I hung up on him in an effort to REALLY show him what rude was.

I think you should screen who does what at the festival so this doesn't happen. If someone wants to have a ballot box at the festival and their ballots say they wont sell people's phone numbers they need to be telling the truth.  If I'm not mistaken it says nothing when they DO intend to sell your number and if it says they won't sell your number by LAW they must be telling the truth.

Thanks for your time.

I just received a call from Chris McCoy, a representative for the Georgian Manor.
He told me I had won a 3 day 2 night (during the week) or 2 day 1 night (on the weekend) stay at their five star hotel and resort from a ballot I had filled out at London's Doggy Pawlooza this summer.
He also went on to tell me they are not selling anything and it was not a time share. BUT, I did have to make a deposit of $79.95 by credit card to hold my booking, stating it would be refunded upon check out. He tried to convince me that as with any hotel a deposit is required to hold the room. To make my trip so much better he would also throw in a $50 spa certificate if I booked today.
Yup...I SMELL SCAM

I have been recieving calls from this number for a week now. It is my cellphone number and i never give it out and dont recal signing any ballots or anything to win something. I dont answer the number and have texted them but it is apparently a landline. But now that i know what this is i can answer and tell them to f off

Just received another call from this number, they keep asking for someone else. We have told them they have the wrong number. Looks like someone filled out a ballot and gave our number. We also have been getting scam calls from over seas New Delhi. Also a 01191724 number has been calling our home daily. I have had enough. Our phone provider said we should just not anwser those calls and it should stop if they keep getting no anwser.

Same deal happening with us! They keep calling!!

I have been getting calls from this number/people for aprox 5 months now. Everytime they call it is a different person. They always say I entered at the "Friendship Festival" which I have never attended. I keep telling them I am not interested take my friggen name and number off your list. I have had them also use unknown name/number or unavailable when calling me. They always call my cell which I never give that number out

DO NOT CALL!

I just received a call from them.. so disappointed.... I didn't know about the timeshare, because  they said that I have won from Carassagua Festival, that I won 3 days/2nights or 2days/1 night. They told me to answer YES a question that the income is 75K per year when another person call me back to verify if I received the price... meanwhile I checked at Carassauga winners but my name wasn't there. Then I searched the number on the internet I found lots of this type of report.

He told me they are not selling anything and it was not a time share. BUT, I did have to make a deposit of $79.95 by credit card to hold my booking, stating it would be refunded upon check out.To make my trip so much better he would also throw in a $50 spa certificate, a 10$ voucher for breafast, 2x1 dinner and VIP 20% discount card if I want to spend it at the village.

Chris McCoy called me from Florida Bahamas Cruise-Ramade a week ago... similar story but a bit better vacation and asking for 299 instead for registering a free vacations....

My phone is on the do not call registry but I still got called from them... and have not put my name or number into any of those ballots so they have no grounds to be calling. Still another company that ignores the law.
