It's difficult for U.S. Treasury Agents to prosecute someone who is calling you from Bangalore or some other call center city in India.

Received a call that they would bring me to court if I did not call back.

Same call from the "Treasury Department". Who are these fools? Can't they be tracked down and prosecuted? No one should have to listen to this BS!

A message was left on our voice mail by Dennis Gray, 706-250-8338 with the same Indian accented scam threat as referenced above by others, re: IRS/Treasury Dept. Apparently, it's a scam that is being recycled as we received similar calls last year that we also ignored. The most important tell-all clue is that the bozos never ask for you by name, and of course IRS/Treasury Dept. never contacts you by phone requesting tax payments. Thank goodness for Caller-ID, but it's still so annoying! There ought to be a law!

Have received this and similar calls from probably the same scum, all claiming to be from the Treasury department. 1) The IRS NEVER calls you first, they send a certified letter and do not threaten anyone, and 2) they definitely don not try to get you to settle over the phone, either by credit card, or those infamous green dot cards. Wish I could give them a real visit, I guarantee they wouldn't be in shape to try this crap again. My advise is to ignore them, do not under any circumstances call them back!

Recording threatening legal action unless I let them help me!  Right !!!

This # 7062508338, has being traced to an IP Address: 103.126.52.2#, it a pbx system with fake / displayed out going ph #, found listed in system 6262801582.

Seeing a lot more of these incredibly stupid scammers trying to copy a previous scam (IRS, MS, court summons, etc.) without a clue. C'mon - a robocall scam? So they have to have a return number to call, which will likely be cut off soon, so they have to do it all over again with a new number. Plus the danger to them that if anyone of us did trace the number back to a real person, they might experience some real pain.

The government is too busy monitoring our calls to grandma to care about real criminal activity. And phone companies rejoicing over the pure profit they make charging for caller ID (mostly showing "Unknown Name"), encouraged by this activity - a big win for them! Anyway, I'm getting rid of my home line.

Now if I could just stop my Linux computers from sending all those error packets to Microsoft!!!!

Just got the exact call and message. Didn't answer the call as I didn't recognize the number. However, this area code is common in my area, which  made me consider answering the call. Glad I didn't.

I received the same IRS threatening message. Some guy just lost 22,000 for this type of scam thinking he owed the IRS money. Just block them. The IRS will contact you via mail if there is a problem.

Blocker can help, yes.  ALso don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize.   There's no perfect answer to the problem.  But a blocker can help.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.  IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government.     Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
