Whenever calls like this are made, it's a robocaller that's merely verifying working numbers for a list that some telemarketing firm is about to sell to someone. When you answer, or if it goes to your voicemail, it's telling the robocalling machine that yours is a working number . It then remains on the list that gets sold. Simple as that.

If you're being called on a cell phone, simply add the number to the "reject list."

Also, make sure your number is on the US government's "Do Not Call" list. Most of these robocaller types don't pay attention to it, but it can still help.

This is clearly a scam, I encourage you all to do the same before someone unknowing gets scammed.

These people call constantly, even though we no longer even live in their area (Sonoma County).  Of course, we can't tell them to stop calling as they are never even on the line if we answer.  We have blocked at least 6 numbers from this same exchange... they just call with a new number, always 707-894-****.  In the Sonoma County area, these calls are coming from A1 Solar.  Just a bunch of spammers who don't give a fig for the Do-Not-Call list.  Why anyone would do business with someone who calls like this is a mystery to me.  Although we are building a home and will probably have solar, we will only do business with a legitimate vendor, one who doesn't call every day of the week in the off chance that some "victim" will answer and actually purchase from them.

I was getting DAILY calls from this number as well as others.  They never left any messages on my cell phone.  I just  registered my cell phone and home phone at DoNotCall.gov yesterday and have not had any calls today.  Hopefully this works.  Good luck

Registering my phone doesn't stop the calls. At least a couple times a day...
They won't stop until the DoNotCall org gets after them...

I am getting daily calls from this number and no one answers when I call back.

I have been getting calls from this number for about a month, mostly missed calls but sometimes I answer to yell at them but its always dead silence for about 3 or 4 seconds then a weird beep then disconnected. When I call back the number is not in service. I finally figured out how to block the number, then the following day I got 2 missed calls from 707-837-9541. Same story, I call back and it's not in service. The first number is in Cloverdale and this new number is in Winsor, which are close by i think. It's so frustrating!!!

Has anyone sent the police to their business yet? A1 Solar?

Thanks Dennis, your explanation is the most plausible. Regardless, it's annoying to get a call at 6am.
I called Verizon and they directed me to My Account to block the numbers. The first 5 are free and any more are charged. A friend told me I could block on my recent call list, which I also did. Will see what charges are on my next bill.

As with everyone, this number calls multiple times a day . Does not verbalize anything when answered, does not leave a message and the number is not a working number when redialed.

They keep calling and hanging up.

They've been calling me a couple times a day for MONTHS now.  They don't leave messages and if you pick up, they hang up!  If you call the number back, it says, "You have reached a number that is disconnected or no longer in service ..."  Today, FINALLY there was a person!  He said, "Hello?  Hi (crackle) my name (crackle) is James (crackle) Addison ..." CLICK.

This person has called me for months.sometimes 2-3 times a day...no answer when I answer, and when calling back..says the # has been disconnected.

    I read online this person was selling solar energy ..so when I received another call..I asked if it was  Solar Energy
The person hung up and immediately called back from the same number asking if I wanted to purchase solar.. I insisted
that I did not.
Still they are calling and hang up.
This person is wasting my time and other people's time and needs to be stopped.

I've received unwanted phone calls on my cell phone from several numbers with the same area code and prefix, all from Cloverdale, CA. They call multiple times a day almost every day. I block a number after they call 3 times without leaving a voice mail, so at this point I have blocked:

My cell phone and land line are on the Do Not Call list which makes these calls even more annoying. I've put in a complaint at the FCC about them, but I doubt it will make a difference. I don't give out my cell phone number, but somehow they got it and I'm guessing it has been sold to others because these aren't the only ones I'm getting, but they all started around mid-October 2014.

Same experience.......10 to 12 times a day from various numbers..no one leaves a message and if you pick up there is no one there.   I tried calling back and the number is disconnected.  So much for the DO NOT CALL list. Totally useless.
