It was a collection agency called MCS Inc. They are cool if they think you have some money for them then [***] when you don't. Of course I'm real familiar with them being [***]. lol

some [***] named Mike threatened to suspend my license if I did not pay $500 for a couple tickets I have.  I told him they were paid and it just pissed him off more.  I told him I could send him proof and he said he did not want proof, he wanted $500.  This has to be a scam because there is no way the Blue Island PD would hire this prick to pursue tickets.

The burden of proof in a debt dispute is not yours but placed on the collector. The rep may not want proof, but his boss has to go fetch it or fail in trying upon your demand. More to the point, a debt collector is not magically connected to your state DMV or traffic court. Claiming they could suspend a license violated your FDCPA rights, worth double what this boiler room wants from you in a statutory payout.

Maybe your municipality did not assign this debt claim, but how do you know it wasn't stupidly sold off with "non-performing assets" ..... meaning very stubborn unpaid traffic tickets?

By law...they cannot suspend your license...they can just have bill collectors call to try and collect.  It just affects your credit score.  And if they can....go ahead, I don't live in that state anymore.  I'm tired of being robbed by the Illinois government...red light traffic tickets is entrapment.

I kept getting this phone call asking for money for someone that I do not even know.  I told them take my phone number off their list or else contact my lawyer.

Let's not have any more pleas to "stop calling" like the bad example set by "Char" last September. Your caller does not maintain this site or this web page. You will not get full compliance with your orders to a debt collector until you deliver them DIRECTLY on paper and via USPS Certified with return card.

If MCSI or any other agency thinks you owe something, be sure to respond on real paper to its federally required dunning letter with a dispute and validation request, adding that you either restrict or revoke consent to call again. Given the industry's documented need to break laws to get at your assets, you should dispute even if you agree slightly with its claim.

If the account is not legally collectable, or it's simply not you they want, you're free to send a full cease-comm, cutting off all contact. Pay close attention to all communication and document it well. If those contacts yield legal violations, you may collect from *them* through a judge or arbitrator.

Stop calling

They absolutely CAN suspend your license in the state of Illinois for unpaid tickets.  I think the threshold is 10 unpaid tickets, but they can do it.  Happened to me!

Who are "they" that hold this suspension power? I don't think you mean MCSI, which only talks about pretty ordinary contingency collection tactics on its badly composed promo website.

This past Spring at least one Illinois town wanted to get rid of MCSI and let the city attorney take over the job of collecting.

The state of Illinois is also a collection agency for the city of Chicago. They took money from my state tax refund to pay Chicago parking fines. That just seems unconstitutional.

a lady name Tracy calls daily claiming she is from the city of Chicago Heights.  So it must be a red light or no turn on red issue.  I will verify with Chicago Heights.

I received a call this morning on my cell phone at 8AM. It was a pre-recorded message that asked me to return the phone call. I heard the company name as NCIS. I thought it was a joke, but I returned the phone call.
They used my name when they answered the call; I was transferred to another person who also used my name.
The man said they were looking for someone else.

How does one report such harassment? Their company should be fined for all the harassment they have caused.
