Called claiming to be "Melvin" from the "notification center" to say that we had won a major prize. When I called the number he left - 1866 430 3180 - it was "not in service" and no one answered at the number he supposedly called from. I was curious about what sort of scam was being run.

caller ID = Notification Center and they actually left a "detailed" message saying that i had filled out a card to win a car and that i had won the car (or other prizes) with a call back number 866-430-3180 ext 214...and a discalimer that he's (Melive: atho sounded more like a female) aware of the 'do not call list'....but he can get around that as i actually entered the contest....problem for him is that i NEVER enter contests nor do we ever fill out surveys, NEVER.  Without following the bait, this is a repeat of 20 year old scam...you've won prize(s) and to collect IRS requires them to collect taxes (that's why the prize is a car...means more money for the scammer) and the best way to do that is with credit card number and/or bank numbers....don't fall for this...and shake your head at the fact that our government allows and supports these violations...especially when they are from chicago, illinois...hmmmm.... i wonder who else is from chicago.....
