Calls me about an American Express bill that I am supposed to owe from sometime back.  I have not had an American Express card in 20 years.  Says I did have one in 2003 and that I obviously just decided that I did not want to pay.  This is a scam.  I told them to leave me alone and not call my number any more.  They are still calling. I read in the Houston Chronicle about suing Debt Collectors that abuse you and do illegal things.  I am going to pursue this course of action.  I found the information below on the company by researching the internet.

They all claim to be lawyers.  As if that is an order you have no choice but do as they say.  Blarney!!!

Got a call about an credit card processor I used for my business,  they want 1600 dollars. [***] I owe that. They kept calling and calling threating to come to my house. They did claim to be lawyers.

Got a call from that number yesterday.  Caller ID said William A. Cohen.

Missed the first call.  Second call they asked about a company name and hung up.  Today I get a call from an anonymous number.  They leave a message claiming to be an "Investigative" service informing me they are going to come to my town and do an "asset" search.

Received call from irate agent.  He would not let me finish a sentence.  Was very abusive trying to get me on defensive.  Assured me he had recorded the conservation and would use it in court.

Be sure to ask if you are being recorded before you talk to them.  The best defense against these people is to stay calm and just tell them you don't have the funds to pay at this time.

Don't listen to concerned. Never, ever acknowledge the debt. Tell them to send information in writing. Tell them you are recording the conversation as well and that you want proof of the debt and their address as you will only handle the matter in writing. Acknowledging the debt can restart the clock on an old "zombie" account that is otherwise uncollectable.

They call at least once a day.  It's really annoying.  They always ask for the owner and claim we owe someone money.  Blah, blah.  Now that I read this I think I'll give them a test of their own medicine!!!

Had a man named Eddie White call into the business that I work for this afternoon and be extremely abusive.  I told him that the owner was not in and that I would take a message and he was hesitant but after about 2 minutes of "I can only take a message", he finally obliged.  He then got very furious when I asked if this was a collection agency and he demanded that I "just write down what I tell you too!"...I then told him not to get "crass with me" and that was the end of the conversation.  It's loser collection people like this that go way beyond their bounds legally.  I will be sending a letter to the company as well as to the FTC.

Some Smart Aleck who called himself Ken Smith called us at tried to get us to pay a fake bill from some phone company we got an "automatic billing" from several years ago.  They send out bills that look similar to the regular yellow pages logo etc.  While I was on vacation several years ago one of those fake bills came in an our elderly treasurer paid it without my approval, thinking it was the regular phone ad bill.  The next year they tried to "automatic bill" us, and of course we refused the con.  I told them we demanded the $250.00 or whatever it was they had deceitfully collected from us back, but they never sent it.

This Williams Cohen and Gray must collect dead files and try to collect for themselves.  After Smith called us, I asked him to show me a contract I signed for that ad companies services.  Of course he could not produce it.  Consequently he sent me a threatening fax which I'm going to send on to our legal counsel to see what we can do to see this sham group doesn't continue their crooked dealings.

I can't wait to get your letter! If you would just do your job as a phone jockey and write down messages that are important business matters, then maybe you wouldn't get blasted!

Good luck with that! We just collect the past due bills for our clients. Your legal team can do NOTHING to us. If you have a problem with the client sending you your bill, then contact them.

I used WCG for Business to Business collections for years.  They are not effective.  Do not hire them.  In addition to being completely incapable to getting businesses to pay them, they can't get my bills right.  They try to bill me a fee 25% greater than the fee we agreed upon.  When I collect the amount due myself and collect their collection fee on top of that, they insist on billing me a 25% collection fee on the collection fee I collected.  This is a very poor company.   Refuse to pay it, and you become one of the many people they harass - ineffectively. Do not use this company for your collections.

So not only are the Owners Crooks , jesus,,they hire this...its not the only one...

They are not attorneys they are a Collection agency collecting  old zombie debt, don't answer them they have no power. If they threaten to sue you file bankruptcy, they have payment plans now for bankruptcy. They can do no more then you allow them to.

Last thing you want to do is send them more business because if they collect it they will " offset" your check with funds they claim you owe them......The owner is a crook was convicted of federal fraud and spent time in FEDERAL prison for it.

Received this call from Chad Stevens, explained to me that he was a representative from Williams Cohen and Gray, 8/23/13 said that he demanded a balance from a previous account. He attempted to threaten me by putting a hold on my accounts and was going to be putting liens on all my properties. He further explained that he would report me to the IRS. I explained to them that there was a book keeping error and they needed to check with someone before call me back again cause the next call to them will be my representative.
