Yup, same message.  I am an event planner, but the area code and awkward sentence made me think something was up.  "How are you today, This is James Collins, I would like to know if you offer event planning service for wedding anniversary."

Same exact text about an annivesary party, but I went all the way thru, via email. He said he was a sailor and his anniversary is April 22nd. 14k budget and to set up Stripe account for payment. As I was waiting for the payment to clear (after I did the work of finding vendors and gave a real proposal) I found this page. I refunded the money and will not be returning his emails.

Yep, got the exact same message as above. I received one of these from Harrison Williams back in November and go all the information and then said sorry I'm interested in your scam, never heard back from them. Then I got a text not to long ago about the same thing and  I said not interested in your scam and they were like that was rude and blah blah blah. Stupid people!

Got a text from James Collins. He sends emails from jamescollins00900@gmail.com. Claims to be a sailor, wanting to plan an extravagant anniversary for his wife with a $15K budget. Claims he can't use Square or Paypal and only Chase to process credit cards. Unfortunately I got far into the process and spent too much time with this scammer. I got suspicious after he gave a Seattle home address - that was listed for sale. And then when he went to process a credit card payment he listed a Colorado construction business address. When I asked why a different address, he claimed it was the family business and a family credit card. After doing a reverse lookup on the phone number I found this page. THANK YOU for all those before me who documented the history. I have now reversed the credit card charges.

To add to my previous message, if anyone is wondering about James Collins' tactics, here's his play...His goal is to get you to process charges to fraudulent credit cards. After you process the charges, he then asks you to pay for his event services via cash. Once you transfer cash into the account, he's long gone with your money, and you're stuck with the fraud disputes on an innocent bystander. Luckily I caught onto his plan early in the game. I contacted the innocent bystander who owned the credit card he was attempting to use. It saved them the pain of having identity fraud of $9K to their credit card. Do not do business with James Collins, run away. Unfortunately because there is no way to pin down his place of residence (since the # is a Google voice #), and he didn't commit an actual crime against me (he didn't get my $), just the intent to commit it, there is nothing the police or government can do. Just be knowledgable and on the alert with scammers like this.
