- carolI received a call from these scum bags at 9:00 this morning as I was sleeping, I did not answer, they left a message about lowering premium costs and no co-pay. I have insurance, and even if I didn't, i would not use someone that calls my home soliciting.
- DorseCalled at 10:36am. Diverted by a service I subscribe to that intercepts robo-dialed calls (rhymes with SoNoHobo). I called back (*67) and also got a recording said enter your PIN followed by pound key.
- Caller: Out of Area
- SailorReceived call & voicemail that said "press 2 to be removed from this offer"
- Call type: Telemarketer
- John| 2 repliesI believe that someone like your cable or some service gives out the numbers. I just moved to California from Georgia and now I receive California numbers with these telemarketing companies. How else would they know unless someone that I opened up accounts with that I am here now.
- MikeHuntleton replies to JohnThat is one way they get your info. Many companies say they will not share your information without consent, but have a small check box pre-marked of you agreeing on consent. Its usually hidden in those long "I agree" policy pages (such as a Terms & Conditions agreement, End-User License Agreement (EULA) or, most likely, a Privacy Policy agreement.) that most people only skim over or fail to read at all. They count on this as a way to gain consent and still maintain they do not share info without consent, that you unknowingly gave.
- BigA replies to JohnHow would the know? They have been using California area codes to spoof numbers for years, just like they use 202 area codes for their IRS scams. They don't need to buy lists of numbers that would probably change daily. All they need is a simple computer program that dials every 4 digit combination in a given area code and exchange. Then they set it to whatever number and name they want to spoof.
- Cherie matosCalls several times a day speaking in Spanish. They were told no one here speaks Spanish and they keep calling.
