    Received a summons to appear in court this morning at my job, yet these people have never called me.  Is this legal?  My court date is next month and I don't even remember this.  When I called the number they told me now that I've received a summons it's too late to discuss.  Is this legal?

    According to the person I spoke with, this is John Colby's office from 714-380-5390.  A number from CA.  They were looking for my grandmother, who will be 93 in two months.  Said they had my number as a reference.  The first time they called, I was told they were a litigation office.

    I'm trying to figure out what my 93 year old grandmother, who uses a walker to get around, did to get into trouble and have a litigation office trying to contact her!

    had msg on my machine looking for my son whom hasnt lived with me for a good 16 years concerning an address he hasnt lived at for close to ten years and stating the msg was prove of contact and if didnt call in 24 hrs would begin proceedings.  ignore as far as im concerned its an illegal way of serving a summons

    A voicemail is *not* "proof of contact", nor can you be served a court summons that way.  Typical scam caller.  Block their number.  BTW, if someone is going to be served, they don't get a heads up or told to call another number to stop "proceedings".  If the callers left a company name or identity, you may want to report them to the FTC as well as your state's Attorney General.

    I originally had this number blocked and they left a voicemail. I listened and it was for John Colby's office in regards to a court order or something for a neighbor i barely knew. i called them and told them to take my number off of their records and to not call me because i don't talk/hardly know this person.
