Called Friday a.m., no message left

714-551-5554 called asking for money donations.  He claimed to be a policeman and was calling random computeriZed numbers.

Called late at night and asked "is this (my name)" and then hung up.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the California State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.cafop.org. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for California police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

Received IVR call that asked for "the lady of the house". My telephone listing does not give a first name, only an initial. Call did not identify as required by 47 CFR 64.1200(b) or B&PC 17500.3. As an automated call, it violated PUC 2871 et seq. After some interaction, the caller revealed that the call was being recorded, so it violates PC 632.

I called 714-551-5554, and it answers as California State Fraternal Order of Police. The company actually making the solicitation is Corporations for Character, LC out of Murray, UT. The CA AG charity site does list the campaign. C for C says it keeps 70 percent of the donations for itself.

I received one of these calls a few minutes ago. The Caller ID said "CA FOP" which stood for California Fraternal Order of Police. He asked for my wife; I said I would get her. But after two seconds he began asking where we were and why no one was responding to him. Then he hung up. He may have some kind of fundraising goal to meet that only allows him a couple of seconds to ask for money.

Are these calls in correlation with anyone getting a ticket.

If so that is illegal solicitation

a fool and their money are soon parted.  tell them to have better business practices if legit.  like not being rude and or calling late at night!
