- JDCaller didn't leave message on answering machine.
- Caller: Don't know, don't care
- R LNumber is spoofed or the caller is up awful early when they called. It would be just after 6 am their time, didn't bother blocking my number and calling back since it's probably a scam anyway. Just blocked it or I should say another one.
- Caller: Don't care either
- tired of interruptions| 1 replyCalled,, tied up our line (not leaving a msg!) just hanging on the line.....
said Local caller on id.....Not from here!
I'm tired of these interruptions. My parents are in hospital and assisted living. My heart jumps everytime the landline rings; my family mainly contacts me on the cell phone.- Caller: 'Local caller'
- GlennCalled left no message, caller ID showed "Cell phone CA". Third different caller ID from same area code and exchange (714-607-6XXX). Blocked all calls from 714-607-8XXX.
- Bob| 1 replyPre-record to landline on the DNC. Call from SeniorCare USA (pre-recorded message) or American Alert Services. (live operator). Claimed to be referred by a health care professional (pre-recorded message) and/or AARP (live operator) to receive a medical alert system (like "I've fallen but I can't get up", but someone else). Claimed to be a $400 package for FREE! Oh wait, we'd need to pay $34/month for monitoring. Supposedly there was no contract, but how much does anyone want to bet that there is a contract? Generally, these are around 3 years.
They did have our names and address, which the guy alternated back and forth about whether they can this from AARP or our medical practitioner. So I doubt it was either, but it was concerning they had our names and address. I could not get him to confirm which medical practitioner this would be with out 'confirming' my intention to get the product. Likely this was just part of the pitch. AARP has a scam alert on their web site about monitoring companies like this, especially ones that use robocalls - so again, since AARP is trying to keep elderly from getting scammed by medical alert companies, having a medical alert company robocall their members seems a little dicey as well.
On the fun side, I had about a 23 minute chat with my lucky rep, which of course he didn't make a sale. If only 20+ other people did the same thing, we could keep him from making ANY sales today. Talk to them. Ask questions. Deny them that sale. Don't just do it for yourself, do it for those elderly seniors that might get scammed.- Caller: SeniorCare USA / American Alert Systems

You may have been exposed to scam # 27, as described here:

Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at that site, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam, or to read any further information about that number that others may post. - Shelley| 1 replyIdentified only as "local" on caller ID. Called at 9AM on a Saturday, which means it was 6AM their time! Southern California area code is not "local" for me, as I live in Kentucky. Did not leave a message.
- RoeThe name on caller ID said LOCAL, it immediately was cut off after one ring since I have purchased a call Blocker device and installed it on my landline . this is the first time this number has called but since I have blocked the entire 714 area code since I know no one in that area code doesn't matter , I just laugh now one ring and they're gone, if you attempt to call it back you have to press one to "be removed from future special promotions" which is clearly a scam since they are violating the basis of do not call. I also filed a complaint with do not call to let them know that these people are violating and attempting to sell things to people, as in telemarketing, what I would also suggest is that people print up the complaints such as on this board and mail them to the appropriate state attorney general office, if they are being swamped with letters they can do something.
- Caller: LOCAL as per caller id
- Tabitha| 5 repliesCalled and didn't leave a message. If you call back they tell you to press 1 to be removed. What is the point of DNC? I get dozens of calls a day from people like this.

Short educational post, suitable for people with short attention spans:
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.
The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that. Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense. Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.
√ - Sue| 1 replyThey said it wasn't a sales call -- but it was.
They said it was from AARP - but it wasn't.
