Claims to be a Google Place Page Rep. wants to verify your account?? Then becomes nasty & rude when you ask not to be contacted as we already have a rep handling our accounts. If he works for Google, maybe they want to revisit customer service 101.

Received a call from 716.206.3218, caller id said irs. I did not call back but did call and report this to our Sheriff's department and was told someone from this number had been calling people in our area. I wanted them to know so maybe they could warn people not to call or answer the phone when this number appears on their phone.  As far as I know IRS still sends you letters, not a phone call.

Called an left a message claiming to be IRS and saying I needed to call by the end of that business day. Left me a case reference number. So I called back and was on hold for about 20 minutes so hung up. Did not speak to a live person so don't know if it's a scam call or what.?

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.
USA tax payers should read this:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Reiterate ... -Telephone-Scam

    Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

    Educational post:
This scam is also described as scam #11, here:

Received a voice mail stating they were IRS and needed me to call by EOBD at 877-968-3413 and to have last 4 digits of SS ready and case number ready.  I called back and was on hold for 20 minutes before I decided to call the number I was called from on my cell and it was stated it was a disconnected number then I did reverse lookup on the number and got to the web page.  I just hung up.  I'm glad I hung up!
