We did not answer, and they hung up rather than leave a message.  Caller ID said "Youngstown NY."

Didn't answer either, but know its a scam. CID says "Youngstown NY" and I don't know anyone in that region.

Just received a call from this number, caller id as local.  We can put men on the moon but not eradicate these scam calls

You said it about men on the moon and not being able to get rid of these sickos!!  The same number just called my house at 2:24 p.m.  No message left......as expected!!

If the phone companies didn't promote such calling based on profit motive, we'd see regulations that require companies to provide .no-cost call-blocking and company restrictions on obvious scam calling.

Someone selling a medical alert system.  They left a recorded message saying they wanted to send the system free of charge, along with $3000 in coupons.

It is getting so we can't answer our phone anymore!

Rec'd call from this number. I not in house to answer. No msg. left. Caller ID just said local. I just blocked this number on my phone.

message had started when person here answered phone on 2nd ring.
message said something to the effect that our doctor had 'suggested' the call, that it was for medical Insurance
and $3,000 in food coupons.
BOY WHAT A CONGLOMERATE OF "KEESTER DOOTY".
Person had heard enough and just hung-up.

Called at 6:15 pm CT, did not answer, no message left.  Must be a junk call.

got this call this evening nothing on  answer machine. ID said local. New York is a long way from local where we are.  

Do not call list is a joke. They should be able to deal with these scammers immediately. Don't have any high expectations anymore with government

This is a discussion forum where one can report or describe suspicious or unknown phone calls, but reporting them here does not stop the calling.  YOU have to take action to do that!  (google is your friend).  Consider buying a call blocker from your favorite store if nothing else works.

CALLED TODAY 8/14, CALLER ID SAID "LOCAL"  DIDN'T LEAVE MESSAGE AND IT WAS A THOUSAND MILES AWAY FROM BEING LOCAL.

Caller ID said Local.  I agree with Jaybee.  It's about a thousand miles away from being local.

Just got a call from this number. Caller ID says 'local'. It is pitiful, trying to get some unsuspecting people thinking it is a 'safe' call. I have blocked many call numbers before, here goes another one to block list!

Caller ID said "Local", not even close to being "local."  Still did not answer and no msg left on answering machine.

Can't as long as elected officials keep getting fed at the "hog trough".
